Footballers have a habit of dicing with the law, barely a week goes by without some unfortunate individual hitting the tabloid headlines. Admittedly, the most frequent of offences have a tendency to circulate around those involving speeding in a flashy supercar, earning the player a few points on their license and a fine that doesn’t even dent the weekly wage packet. Then occasionally there are the more serious, those which receive the most scrutiny. The most recent cases, to name a few, c....

The summer months provide a hotbed of activity in the football transfer market, bustling with trade as a host of players switch employers. A number of reasons are often attributed to the inevitable switch, sometimes it is the choice of the club, cashing in on their prize assets in a bid to balance the books, or adjudging that certain individuals are surplus to requirements, looking for a cheap sell to get them off the wage bill. What it underlines is just how thin the line between success and failure really is. The tightrope snapped for Davies at The Liberty Stadium, when Darren Pratley delivered the final blow from the hal....

The whole situation appears a lot brighter. The boss becomes satisfied, if not moderately pleased with the upturn in performance. And then you quit. No matter how much Mark Hughes....

For the majority of those streaming from the Wembley exits Saturday night there would have been an overwhelming feeling of disappointment that lingered during the journey home. This would have been far more severe if Fabio Capello’s men hadn’t battled back to cancel out a two goal deficit, thus displaying a degree of fighting spirit in what was ultimately a fairly lackluster performance. After all, opponents, Switzerland, were swept aside with relative ease earlier in the Euro 2012 q....
