CANNOCK WEDNESDAY

Once again we had another superb evening in Cannock`s Premier 6 aside league held on Wednesdays with all 48 teams in attendance. I was extremely pleased to hear that the pitch stood up to the cold weather so well with every match taking place. I must remind all teams that anyone found acting in an aggressive or intimidating manner on or off the pitch will be removed from the league. We do still have 7 teams on the waiting list, so I will not hesitate to replace teams if they do not take this warning seriously. I am only talking about one or two teams as the majority of teams conduct themselves in a friendly yet competitive manner.

I would like to remind all team managers that they must keep me informed of any contact details which have changed. This is important as if we have severe weather conditions we need to contact teams at short notice.

WITH MATCH FEES ONLY £22 PER TEAM AND ALL MATCHES 36MINS IN DURATION, WE ARE THE CHEAPEST AND MOST ESTABLISHED LEAGUE IN THE AREA BY FAR. WE ALSO OFFER THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE SERVICE WITH COLOUR BOOKLETS EACH WEEK AND EXCLUSIVE ENTRY TO OUR NATIONAL TOURNAMENT! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN THIS LEAGUE PLEASE CLICK THE LINK ON THIS PAGE OR ALTERNATIVELY GIVE US A CALL ON 08452302340.

We would like to make all teams aware that any rubbish must be taken off the pitch after the match has finished, especially empty water bottles. I must also remind all teams that they are not permitted to wear blades or studs on the pitch and players will be asked to leave the field of play if they are found to be wearing inappropriate footwear.

We are always looking to extend our leagues, so if you are interested in joining this league or our Sunday league please enter your team details by clicking the link on this page or alternatively give us a call on 08452302340.

The Winning Team From Last Year - Uxbridge

The National Tournament Is Coming!
The National 6 a side Football Championships is set for July 7th and will again be held at the Witton Pavilion in Birmingham. And entry is FREE to all teams who finish in the top of a Leisure Leagues division, with massive savings on offer to any Leisure Leagues teams.

Last years event attracted nearly 300 teams and was won by a team from Uxbridge in Middlesex, who beat a team from Cannock 1-0 in the final and scooped a holiday to the Algarve.

“The tournament just keeps growing,” said Lee. “We started it a few years ago and there were less than a hundred teams involved, but then word got around and it has grown to the extent that teams tell us it is the highlight of their sporting year.”

Lee also confirmed that it would be another record breaking day in tournament history as over 400 teams were expected to pit their wits against each other this year, “We have had many, many entrants already,” he explained.” We have given teams the chance to enter a lot earlier this time round and that has proved a very popular decision.”

A holiday for the whole team remains the prize, with Lee adding “this is the most prestigious event of its type in the world, and as such, it deserved a prize to match, and we are delighted to say we have secured that.”

This year marks the second year that the National 6 a side Championships have been held at the Birmingham venue – which lies in the shadow of the world famous Villa Park, home of Aston Villa and is less than five minutes from the UK motorway network – and Lee admitted that he would be working flat-out to make the day even better.

“We have a number of things that we learnt last year, and this year we will be making a number of logistical changes, such as moving the position of the marquee where teams register, hiring big screens and so on, to make things go even smoother.

Teams can head to www.national-tournament.com to enter now.
