In the world of local football, the Burntwood Monday 6 a side league held its ninth week of fixtures last night, with exhilarating performances from teams across all divisions.
In the Premier League division, Bunch Of Scruffs showed their dominance with a resounding 7-2 victory over The CTL Elite. Is the gig up for CTL!? Meanwhile, Burntwood FC put on a stellar performance, defeating Sheffield Monday 5-1. Meaning the title hangs on just goal difference now! Scrambled Legs set a new record, crushing Dribble FC with an impressive 16-1 scoreline. However, the showstopper of the evening was Dank FC, who left no stone unturned, besting Rawsnley Rangers 7-0.
Moving onto Division 1, where Victor Moses Garden narrowly edged out The Grillbillies, with a tight 2-1 victory. Norton FC showcased a convincing 3-1 win over Stroke Tity FC, firm favourites for 2nd and 1st - both putting in a shift. Meanwhile Harriers trounced Soup King FC 5-1. The excitement was palpable in the match between Patty Freaks FC and Basic FC, ending in a nail-biting 2-2 draw, keeping them both near the drop zone…
In Division 2, Donny On Da Beek gave a masterful performance against Diddys Dribblers, winning the match 5-0. Burntwood Ballers FC let go a lead to draw 3-3 with PSV Hangover. Next up was our Match of the Day, and a glorious top v second spot encounter. 7 goals flew in, however it was Karius To Glory who pulled off a thrilling 4-3 win over P M T FC. Daylight between the two now! In other developments, Whopper Walsh dispatched Kepa Clean Sheet with a convincing 4-1 scoreline.
Finally, in Division 3, Class On Grass claimed a 5-1 win over Pro Clubs Irl, and FCDapperGirls triumphed 5-2 over Davos Diddy Party. The match between Queen Park Strangers and Broadfield FC was fiercely contested, yet another top v second encounter… ending in a narrow 1-0 win for Broadfield FC. Can anyone stop them?
