Sunday 29th March - Ashton Under Lyne Round-Up

It was a fantastic start to the new season in the Curzon Ashton Sunday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance for their matches throughout the night as scheduled.

Please note that the league is cancelled on Sunday 5th April due to the venue being closed for Easter.  We return to action as normal on Sunday 12th April as per the fixtures listed online.

In the Premier League, the opening week saw dynamic performances and a veritable goal fest. The first game ended with Ashton Villa triumphing over Still Only Here 4-1. The second match was a spectacle of offensive prowess, as Cockwombles outscored Inter Row Z 6-1. Shaun H, the striking force for Cockwombles, earned the top scorer title for the week with an impressive tally of five goals. The final match in the division ended in a 1-1 stalemate between Why Always G? and Gangsters Allardyce.

Shifting focus to Division 1, it was a week of high-octane action and stunning performances. Unathletic Bilbao failed to get on the scoresheet, falling 6-0 to Man Shitty. The highest-scoring match of the week was witnessed between Take This and Only Here 4 The Beer, where Take This secured an emphatic 8-3 victory. The division's top scorer was Alex, who netted four goals for Take This. The final match in Division 1 saw Sons Of A Pitch emerge victorious over Rair Flugs with a 5-3 triumph.

As the season has just begun, these opening week results have set the tone for a thrilling league. With top scorers Shaun H and Alex leading their respective divisions, expectations are high for an exciting season of football ahead. Will the other teams rise to the occasion, or will the momentum of the opening week's victors continue to surge? Only time and the beautiful game will tell.
