Finals week at Dormston delivering prizes all round, Champions!
The final week of the Dudley Monday 5-a-side Football Cup competition concluded yesterday, delivering some eye-catching results as the champions were discovered. As the dust settles, the standout teams and players of the cup begin to emerge.
7th Place Play-Off: La Masala vs. Underdawgs
This high-scoring clash saw both teams come out with attacking intent, but it was the Underdawgs who found their rhythm early and maintained control throughout. La Masala kept pushing and managed to find the net multiple times, but the Underdawgs’ pace and finishing gave them a convincing victory to secure 7th place.
5th Place Play-Off: Diddys vs. Out on Bale
Out on Bale delivered a dominant performance in this one-sided affair, asserting control from the opening whistle. Diddys had their moments and managed to pull a couple back, but they couldn’t cope with the relentless pressure and sharp attacking play from Out on Bale, who comfortably claimed 5th place.
Semi-Final 1: AFC Gornal vs. SH Dons
This thrilling encounter delivered one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament. Both teams went toe-to-toe in a high-scoring shootout, with momentum swinging back and forth throughout the game. AFC Gornal showed tremendous attacking flair, but SH Dons matched them every step of the way, edging ahead in the dying stages to secure their place in the final with a dramatic one-goal victory.
Semi-Final 2: The Old Tigers vs. Woefulhampton
A well-contested semi-final saw Wolverhampton display clinical finishing and composure under pressure. The Old Tigers started brightly and put up a strong fight, but Wolverhampton’s control in midfield and ability to capitalize on key chances proved decisive. The result saw Wolverhampton march into the final with a solid two-goal win.
3rd Place Play-Off: The Old Tigers vs. AFC Gornal (Pens: 3–2)
Arguably the most dramatic game of the tournament, this 20-goal thriller had everything—lead changes, late drama, and relentless intensity. Both sides refused to back down in a match packed with attacking brilliance. With the scores level after regular time, it all came down to penalties, where the Old Tigers held their nerve to clinch 3rd place in a nerve-shredding shootout.
Final: SH Dons vs. Woefulhampton
The final was an explosive, goal-filled affair as SH Dons crowned their impressive run with a dominant attacking display. Wolverhampton fought hard and found the net themselves, but SH Dons proved simply too strong going forward, pulling away with a commanding performance to claim their victory and be crowned champions in emphatic style.
