Wednesday 3rd April - Cannock Round-Up

It was another good evening of 6 a side football in Cannock on Wednesday with all teams in attendance throughout the night apart from First Choice FC who failed to notify us and will be spoken to accordingly.

Teachings of Jon appear to have wrapped up the title with two games to spare and only need one more point to seal it.  They were 6-3 winners over Baldeaux this week in an entertaining encounter, whilst AFC Heath Hayes were outclassed by Old Boys who beat them 3-1 to move level on points as they look to secure second place in their first season!   Pork Vale consigned Up The Chase to relegation as they thrashed them 5-1 whilst Ideal Standard won an entertaining match against Nutmeg City 3-2, as Nutmeg battle to stay up.

Cheddar Ball FC all but confirmed promotion for themselves this week too, again one more point is all thats needed but their superior goal difference will be enough.  They were 8-2 winners over a usually disciplined Athletic Bilboat, but their quality in front of goal shone through this week.  Oriental Delight were 7-0 winners over Newolvabora as they also look close to confirming promotion.  Third place FC Crescent were dominant from start to finish as they won 8-1 against Boca Seniors, whilst Strongbow look set for a fifth place finish after a 2-1 win over Real Ale Madrid.

In Division Two, We're Gonna Lose got away relatively unscathed this week, although they were held to a 1-1 draw by Belt Road, second placed Nash FC were beaten 2-1 by Tap Tap and Tower FC also failed to win, although they did come back from 5-2 down to grab a 5-5 draw against Mighty Mariners, so anyone from four can still gain promotion.  The Mix guaranteed themselves safety with a 3-2 victory over Peadhead Dave.

It's still tight at the top of Division Three as the top three are separated by just a point, all three winning again this week.  Maradonna Kebab stay top on goal difference after a 4-0 victory over Mables Spartans, whilst second placed The Barns were 2-0 winners over Sovereign FC and Shameless won 3-2 against Five Ways.  New team Tiny Kodijas were well beaten by Jazz Shack, losing 7-1 as they look suited for Division Four next season.

Trafalgar FC were involved in a surprisingly close encounter with Out Of Shape, and were made to work for their points this week in a 2-1 win.  Second placed Wyld Stallyns were also 2-1 winners in their match against Lads United, leaving Pepe Pig a point behind second despite their 6-1 win against 6 Yard Club as the two battle it out for that second promotion spot.

Good luck to all teams going into next weeks matches with Cannock's premier provider of small sided football!
