Wednesday 18th August - Cannock Round-Up

It was a good evening's football overall in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week.  We were however disappointed to see non-attendances from two teams.

BigbootyBitches have now been removed from the league with immediate effect due to their failure to attend the previous two matches, having only played one game with us.

We will be speaking to Drumsticks FC accordingly with regards to their continuation in the league after they failed to attend their fixture.

On the pitch, Exeter Gently maintain their place at the top of the Premier Division as they eased past Doc Hudson Odoi by 5 goals to 1, as they look to close in on their first title with us.  Athletic Bilboat will be thankful for a late penalty which gave them a 2-1 victory over Murder on Zidane's Floor, pushing them up to second place and above AFC Heath Hayes who suffered a 3-1 reverse at the hands of Oriental Delight.  Game of the night in the Premier Division was between the newest teams, as JakeyBby and NTS Villains played out an entertaining 4-4 draw!

In Division One, Bangers dropped a point for only the second time this season as they and Nutmeg City shared the spoils in a thrilling 3-3 draw.  It doesn't look as though it will affect their title ambitions though, as second place Banglasesh FC couldn't capitalise on this result as they were beaten 1-0 by Ideal FC.

Division Two is shaping up interestingly at the top, as Baldeaux and Limes couldn't be separated and drew 1-1.  A result which keeps Baldeaux top by a point but sees Limes drop to third place.  This was an ideal result for Mable's Spartans and they seized their opportunity, with a narrow 1-0 victory over Gangsters Allardyce putting them into second place, meaning just two points separates the top three.

Shameless FC look nailed on for promotion from Division Three now, they were 4-2 victors over Lads United to put themselves four points clear of third place with only eight to play for.  The battle for second place is hotting up as Vic FC moved to within 2 points of second placed Newstead, this as Vic recorded a comprehensive 6-0 win over Five Ways whilst Newstead were held to a 1-1 draw by Largentina.

Bumfica also look to be guaranteed promotion from Division Four this season, another point will be enough to seal it from their remaining four games.  Corneto'o also look a good bet to go up as they remain three points clear of third place, this following their emphatic 6-1 win over Only Fools and Scorers.  Third placed Leavemyarselona are doing all they can to hang in there though, they sealed a 3-2 win over Wyld Stallyns in an entertaining game, with a late goal.

In Division Five Decorer FC continue their impressive run of form since joining and have all but sealed themselves promotion already, they secured an entertaining 4-2 win over newcomers Cesc Pistols this week.  A special mention also goes out to The Pitmen who on their 24th appearance in the league secured their first league victory (their other one was a 5-0 friendly)!  After storming to a 3-0 lead against third placed Ball of Duty, nerves did start to set in and they conceded two late goals, but they held on till the death and finished victorious!  Well done to all involved.

We look forward to seeing all teams in attendance for the next round of fixtures with Cannock's premier provider of small sided football.
