Wednesday 12th February - Cannock Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league with all teams in attendance throughout the night including two new teams Columbian Dust FC and Chicken Tikka Mo Salah who played their first matches with us in Division 4 and looked comfortable in their debut games.

Oriental Delight now need just a point from their final game to take the league title after they knocked AFC Heath Hayes out of the title race with a 4-1 win against them.  Athletic Bilboat moved into second place with a 4-1 victory over Tower FC, they still have an outside chance of taking the title if they can win next week although it is now out of their hands.

In Division One it is still all to play for going into the last week of the season with three teams still fighting for promotion.  All three of Oriental Delight, Misfitz and Maradona Kebab won their games this week, Maradona are hoping for one of the two above to slip up next week though as they sit in third place.

Banglasesh sealed the Division Two title this week after a 4-2 victory over Pub in an entertaining clash.  Pub remain in second place though and need a point from their game against The Mix in their final game to seal promotion ahead of The Barns.

There's a new leader in Division Three as The Jazz Shack ran out 3-1 winners over bottom of the table Allthegearnoidea, capitalising on Peahead Dave's 1-1 draw with Newolvabora who equalised late on in the game to nick a point.  Both will be playing in the division above next season though but will be looking for some silverware.

Congratulations to Lads United who sealed the Division Four title this week following a 7-2 thrashing of new team Chicken Tikka Mo Salah meaning they will be playing Division three football next season.  It remains to be seen who will be joining them as second placed Shameless 6 drew 1-1 with Corneto'o in a tough game, whilst third placed 6 Lovely Guys missed out on the chance to go second with a 2-1 defeat against Haven't Got One.

We've removed First Choice FC from the league following their failure to attend for a second consecutive week which creates a vacancy in the league at present.  Sign up today to guarantee your place for the new season!
