Wednesday 22nd January - Cannock Round-Up

It was another good evening of 6 a side football in Cannock on Wednesday with all teams in attendance as scheduled for their fixtures and some entertaining matches played across all divisions.

There was nothing to separate the top two in the Premier Division as they met this week, Oriental Delight and Athletic Bilboat playing out a 1-1 draw meaning the top two is as you were.  However, that result let Heath Hayes back into the hunt as their 5-0 win enabled them to close the gap on second to two points.  Snorting Wizbon raced into a 3-0 lead against Tower FC, although the arrears were reduced to 3-2 with 5 minutes remaining, however Snorting grabbed a late goal as they caught Tower on the break to confirm a 4-2 victory.

Nutmeg's lead extended to three points at the top of Division One as they comfortably won 5-0 against Tequila Rattler, whilst Maradona Kebab succumbed to a 4-2 defeat against Misfitz, which moved the latter level on points in second in what could prove to be a big result come the end of the season.  Ideal remain in the mix after their 2-0 win over Baldeaux, whilst Crouch Potatoes ran out 3-2 winners against Up the Chase in the mid-table clash.

Pub? were in unforgiving form this week as they annihilated Trogs Army in Division Two, 14-0 the final result in a match that moved Pub to the summit and gave them a healthy boost on the goal difference front.  Banglasesh were knocked off the top as they suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to seventh placed The Mix who boosted their survival chances.

Peahead Dave and The Jazz Shack's domination continues in Division three as both picked up victories this week, with respective 4-2 and 3-1 wins as it appears to be a shootout for the title.  Third placed Mable's Spartans were 2-0 victors in a disciplined performance against bottom side Allthegearnoidea, although a late promotion push looks unlikely at this stage.

In Division Four there was a huge game as far as the title race is concerned as the top two met.  Lads United went 2-0 down to Shameless 6 early on in difficult conditions.  However rather than give up they scored 2 quickfire goals to level the game up and make it a contest again, Lads United then had their tails up and continued to add to their tally, eventually running out 5-2 winners as they chase their first title since joining the league.  6 Lovely Guys are now just two points off second following Shameless' defeat after they thrashed Out of Shape 4-0.  Elsewhere there were victories for Tiny Kodjias and Haven't Got One Yet to complete a fantastic evening's action.
