Wednesday 22nd June - Cannock Round-Up

It was another fantastic evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week with all 40 teams in attendance throughout the night, with exception to Pique Blinders who called to cancel on the day, they return to action on Wednesday 29th June.

Premier Division leaders Nutmeg City won a thrilling encounter with Shoal Hill Tavern, but were made to work for the points in an eight goal thriller as they were 5-3 victors.  Exeter Gently keep the pressure on the leaders ahead of the two meeting next week, they were 3-1 winners against Banglasesh to remain two points off the leaders.  The other two games in the division ended all square as Ideal and Mables Spartans, and Cat Zouma v Athletic Bilswan ended all square.

Oriental Delight continue to smash their way through the Division One season, they were 9-0 victors over Romasexuals to make it an eleventh straight win.  Shameless 6 won an epic battle with Randy Bin Men to continue to occupy second place, running out 3-2 winners, whilst third placed Newstead FS do their best to keep in the hunt for promotion by thrashing Baldeaux 5-1.  As always, Blewitt FC were involved in a goal fest, losing a nine goal thriller 5-4 against 5-Ways FC.

Traff FC were big winners in the top two clash of Division Two, beating SMC FC to knock them off the summit, 4-1 the final score as they give themselves a 2 point cushion at the top.  Third placed Inter Yanan recovered from recent results to beat Limes FC 4-2 and get back within a point of second.  The Cesc Pistols won by the same scoreline against Strongbow Unathletic, whilst bottom of the table Huntington got a surprise 6-1 win over Leavemyarsealona to put themselves back within a chance of safety.

Division Three leaders Demba 9 Ba have one foot in Division Two next season after a 5-1 mauling of Fiveways leaves them needing one more win from the next three games to seal promotion, as second placed Wyld Stallyns fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Limes FC 2.  Sevilla Lacatalent brought themselves back into the promotion hunt with a 4-1 win over Newolvabora, whilst Cross Bar-celona piled on the misery for Double Pogba and Coke inflicting a third straight defeat on them by 2 goals to nil.

Pique Blinders cancellation saw them slip from top to third as Ooff FC went second with the 5-0 walkover, and Hstikkytokky went to the summit with a comfortable 3-0 win over The Pitmen. 6 Men 1 Cup's recent upturn in form continued as they cruised to a 3-0 win over Deportivo La Cannock, whilst Haven't Got One Yet stay in mid table after a last minute goal saw them overcome Ball of Duty 2-1.
