Boom Gosport Wednesday 6 a side is back!

We are back in business down at Bay House School as our Gosport Wednesday 6 a side league kicked off the new season in style with 3 divisions running and plenty to play. We saw Snorting Lisbon lift their Premier League trophy and Chris Murby receive his Golden Boot last night for their exploits last season, they are both also being entered into the Leisure Leagues prize draw for a chance to win a star prize. This season we are bigger and better with more to play for as there are trophies and medals for all 3 divisions plus Golden Boots to be won across the divisions so it's not just the top teams who have a chance of glory. While the winners will take the prizes there is also promotion and relegation to fight for and against with 2 going up and 2 going down from each division.

Here's a look at the opening night's results in the Premier League as Too Many Goals showed us exactly why they've been put into the Premier League after joining towards the end of last season as they picked up a big 14-2 win against Damo's Dynamo's to go top. Snorting Lisbon also started their title defence in style with a 7-3 victory against Past It while the game of the day in the Prem saw Pique Blinders and Shin and Tonic share an exciting 5-5 draw, a hat-trick for Pique Blinders Cristrin in this one.

Gurnley are the early leaders in Div 1 as they got off to a flying with a 8-2 victory over Norfolk N Chance. The Breadrins Curse were the other victors in the middle division as they kept a clean sheet and scored 3 against Centurion. The other game produced goals, hat-tricks on both sides and a share of the spoils as TeamPB FC and Fish Fingers played out a 4-4 draw. The hat-trick scorers were Harry Leigh (TeamPB) and Oli Robins (Fish Fingers)

Finally the new division, always a tough one as we have six new teams of differing standards. Peris St Germain look to be strong title contenders as they defeated Schindlers Assist 13-2 to take their place at the top however the other two games were much closer. Diop It Like Its Hot produced a solid display to beat Fox's In The Box 2-0 while Does It Got Six won 2-1 against Gosport Locals.

A big thank you to all 18 teams and of course to Benji for running the night along with our refs Phil, Shane and Kurt. Have a great Easter weekend and see you all next week.
