Lucky number seven for Beversbrook six a side teams

It was a great night for football in the Leisure Leagues Calne Tuesday six a side from Beversbrook Sports Facility. The 4G pitch was in perfect nick and the teams put on a great display of attacking football.

The first game of the night it was a top of the table clash between Dads Dream Team Reborn and Netsix and Chill. The game was a lively affair with neither team willing to give an inch as both teams went all out for victory. It was a game of two halfs as the first was dominated by Netsix and Chill. They controlled the game and created chance after chance. They were slightly unlucky to only go in the break 2 goals ahead. However, the second half was a complete turn around. Dads started to pass the ball much better and defensive errors from Netsix allowed Dads back into the game. Under pressure Netsix started to crack and when they tried to play out from the back they were caught out and Dads managed to find the equaliser that their good play deserved. The result leaves both teams at the top of the table, but gave the chasing back an opportunity to close up.

The Rushes were the first team to take advantage of the top two dropping points. They were aggressive from the outset in their approach to the game. They won the ball back quickly in the midfield and looked to get the ball up to Dean as quickly as possible (probably because he would start moaning if they didn't). But once he got the ball it was his feet that were doing all the talking. He would jink this way and then that to make space for the shot. He clearly has a great eye for goal as he put six past HOLO's keeper. To their credit HOLO did not give up and had some good chances of their own but they just could complete physically against The Rushes in midfield and this is where the game was ultimately lost.

The other team to take advantage was Fitness Box FC. In their brand new canary yellow kit they went about the systematic destruction of Chicken Tikka Mo Salah. Again, it was in midfield that the game was won and lost as Fitness Box used their superior fitness levels to get up and down the pitch for the whole 30 minutes whereas Chicken Tikka Mo Salah's striker George Dolman confessed to blowing out of his a** after five minutes. However, it would be wrong to just think of Fitness Box as a team of runners. They clearly have some very good footballers too. A volley from 30 yards when narrowly over the bar. Had it gone in it surely would have been a contender for goal of the season. Chicken Tikka when they did get forward did cause problems and this will give encouragement to the rest of the league. Harrison scored a fine goal that snuck in at the near post after a good run down the left flank. Unfortunately, that was as good as it got for the Salah's.

The final game of the night was arguably the game of the night between RichTeaWellens and TMT. The game was end to end as both teams looked to get in behind their opponents. Lots of good football was played by both sides and both teams had plenty of energy to get up and down the pitch. TMT. Tommy was probably the difference for TMT. His superb finish from outside the box put TMT 2 goals clear with just minutes remaining and although RichTea were able to grab a late consolation goal it was not enough to earn them the points on this occasion.

With every team capable of beating everyone else this season is set to be a Leisure Leagues classic. Stay tuned next week for more upsets and drama.
