Table flipped in Calne six a side as Dads hit their stride

It was another night full of excitement in the Leisure Leagues Calne Tuesday six a side at Beversbrook as 8 teams battled it out on the football pitch. With the teams so evenly matched the league was flipped on its head once again as the league leaders failed to beat Chicken Tikka Mo Salah and Dads won a crucial match against TMT.

In game 1 Netsix and Chill were held by Chicken Tikka Mo Salah but this only tells part of the story. Speaking after the game in form striker Harrison said: "we absolutely dominated the game from start to finish, how we didn't get the win I'll never know." It certainly wasn't for want of trying. Harrison got the all important goal to draw level after an early strike from Netsix had initially put them in front. After this the game was all Chicken Tikka's, they just could not find a way through Netsix resolute defence. The draw does not really suit either team. Netsix drop back to third and for Chicken it is more ground lost to the team above them.

At the other end of the table a significant clash was played out between RichTeaWellens and HOLO FC. RichTea have struggled so far this season but this game represented their best chance of recording a result so far and they did not disappoint. Their goals came from the superb Luke Woodvine who scored an absolute screamer on the stroke of half time, and Josh Graham who represents the engine of RichTea's team. His constant energy caused HOLO problems all game. They did manage to pull one back late on but it was too late to strike a comeback. The result may very well determine who takes home the wooden spoon prize come the end of the season.

The game of the night was perhaps the game between the Rushes and Fitness Box FC. Both teams have played some excellent football this season but have struggled for consistency when it has really mattered. Thus both teams sit just shy of the top of the table but know they perhaps could and should be higher up. The game was the very epitome of a game of two halves. In the first The Rushes were on top. Their excellent range of passing and superb finishing too much for Fitness Box to deal with. However, the longer the game went on the more and more comfortable Fitness became and before long they were back level. Both teams were desperate for the win and so pushed forward. However, it was Fitness who took their opportunities in front of goal much to the frustration of Rushes skipper Stu Masson. The Rushes have not given up hope of reaching the top of the table but know they will need a storming second half of the season to reach the top.

The final game of the night saw old rivals Dads Dream Team Reborn go up against TMT. The guys have played against each other for years and so know each others game inside and out. As a result the game was always going to be a cagey affair. Dads managed to walk away with the points after a clever passing move saw them break out of TMT's high press and get in among their back line. A square ball to the edge of the box found captain Jamie Ogier who slotted home to score the only goal of the game and send Dad's to the top of the table for the first time this season.

The only question that remains is, can they stay there?

Find out next week.
