New Season Starts With A Bang!

The new season got underway in earnest on Monday, two weeks after last season ended due to the bank holiday in between.

The evening started on a high note as Gylfi Pleasures were presented with the Premier League trophy for the second season in a row, and are the team to beat again this season.

We welcomed three new teams debuting at Leisure Leagues Beverley on Monday, with AC-6, Fat Fighters and Cannonballs all making their bow.

Gylfi Pleasures wasted no time in getting their title defence underway, storming to a 9-1 victory over Inter Peroni who will be looking to get back to being hard to beat again as soon as possible.

AC-6 looked impressive on debut, running out 6-0 winners over newly promoted The Academy who will be hoping that isn't the standard right across the Premier League. There was even a cheeky celebrity appearance for AC-6 which caused quite a stir; "if you know, you know" ;-)

Maradona Kebab followed up their second place finish from last season and prevailed 3-1 over Get The Sudocrem in an entertaining game.

In Division One, Beverley La Coruna are looking to bounce back following relegation and got off to the perfect start with an impressive 4-0 victory over a rejuvenated SD7 FC who are looking to build on last season.

Fat Fighters were another team who impressed on debut, chalking up a 2-0 victory over Expected Toulouse and will hope this is a sign of things to come and they can challenge for promotion this season.

Elsewhere in Division 1, Have A Day Off vs Dyslexia Untied was called off due to Covid absences on both sides and will be replayed next week.

DST Leconfield following promotion, and Cannonballs on debut both had Points Matches in their first week of the season, so played each other in a hard fought 1-1 draw. Cannonballs impressed against DST who won last seasons Division One with a perfect ten wins from ten record, and can use this performance as a spring board to challenge for promotion this season.

We still have a couple of spaces available for immediate entry into the league, so if you think you can challenge these teams, get the squad together and sign up today -> https://www.leisureleagues.net/league/bishop-burton-college/beverley-monday
