Updates from Walsall Monday 6 a side league

We had a fantastic evening of 6 a side football at Oak Park on Monday, with all teams in attendance and an abundance of goals scored. Four teams scored seven goals or more, with an incredible eighty five goals bagged over the course of the night (at an average of 7.08 goals per game by our dodgy maths!).

With two weeks to go of the current season, it looks set to be a thrilling conclusion across all three divisions.

Premier Division

Top of the league Hardly Athletic were given an almighty scare by relegation threatened Soccer Cleats United, but retained their two point lead at the top with a thrilling 4-3 victory.

Sporting Becketts 1902 and Lazy Hill Lions continued their pressure, with both teams winning 4-2.

The relegation of Soccer Cleats was confirmed by their defeat, along with Cowdenbeef, but both teams will be hopeful of an immediate bounce back to the top flight.

Division One

It was a potentially massive night in Division One, as Leavemaarsealona took advantage of Ajax Trees Down shock 8-3 at the hands of Shelfield Wednesday to move top, with an 8-3 win of their own. With just two games left to play, the league title is now in Leavemaarsealona's hands.

With Parkstone already relegated, the remaining relegation spot is still to be decided, and it could be any one of five to join them. With Shelfield Wednesday's win, they are almost guaranteed survival, but it looks set to be a nerve wracking end to the season for Beercelona, Boats & Hoes, Moggys Mountaineers and Paris Ganjaman, with just one point separating the four sides.

Division Two

Edwards Allstars continued their early title celebrations, with a crushing 7-2 win over Celsius. Meanwhile, the race to get promoted with them was thrown wide open by Deportivo Laca Talent 2's 5-1 win against second placed Vegas Degenerates, leaving just one point between the two teams going into the final two fixtures.
