RUGBY TUESDAY 10TH DECEMBER - LEAGUE ROUND UP
It was a blustery evening tonight at Rugby Tues, which made for a bit of a leveller in the games. Pumas Vets have had a tough start to the defence of their title, taking on Ballotellitubbies after a tough encounter against runners up Exeter Gently last week. It would be understandable if they dropped at least a point between either tonight's fixture or last week, given they have arguably had the toughest opening two fixtures out of all our teams. That said, it didn't seem to phase the Pumas lads! High tempo stuff from both sides but Pumas were lethal in front of goal at key moments to seal the win. It's worth pointing out however that the squad Tubbies had tonight looked strong. If they keep that side going, then they will climb the table early doors!
In our other ties, have Benteke just turned up to the party? This evening there looks to have been some work done by Benteke off pitch to get a decent match squad together, and looked well equipped (personnel wise) to give their opposition Nike FC a good run for their money. It so happened that it was a modest score line and win for Benteke, but their new look squad (if kept together), have the potential to accrue much more points than the previous season for sure. A bit of a late scare for Exeter in their game against Benson & Headers. Winning by a single goal, Exeter skipper and keeper needed to pull a last gasp save out the bag to ensure they secured the win. A narrow win for Exeter, but let's not underestimate this Benson side. These boys are strong and will test plenty of our sides!! Obecity sit top of the league currently, although slightly fortuitous, due to the fact that they secured the defaulted win against Geri Hat-trick (who will return next week).
