NEW SEASON OFF TO A FLYER AT RYDE

We launched another brand new season at Ryde Academy last night and one of the Isle of Wights best playing surfaces was put into action again as our 12 teams embarked on another campaign of 6 a side.

Scouting for Goals take the early lead in the prem and must be hoping this is their season to pick up the title following their 11 - 5 win over Chamakh. Sat Fesh came away 5 - 0 winners from their game with Netsix as the defending champions were away this week but this did give an opportunity for one of our teams from the waiting list to get a run out and show us what they could do. The night kicked off with an epic 3 - 3 draw between 2 of our promoted sides. Division One champions Goldies going face to face with Guns N Moses where a point each was defiantly a fair result.

In Division One we had a mix of old Leisure Leagues favourites along with a couple of new, young and enthusiastic teams and it looks like it could be a fun division this season. Vectis Rovers and Butlins Bandits kicked things off in what must be one of the leagues most played fixtures and the experiences sides didn't dissapoint, an brilliant 6 goal thriller that ended with each side getting their season started with a point. 3 - 3 and a great game to watch. Roverners followed with a 4 - 1 win over Khedira. Always a competitive game, both sides played some good football but Roverners were just more clinical infront of goal to take the points. Finally we had two of the newer sides going head to head. For Milfclarters it was a Leisure Leagues debut and they showed some nice touches in their game with Ladzio who look to have improved. The game finished 7 - 4 to Milfclaters who find themselves top of Div One after the 1st round of matches.

Great work from Nick and Pete on the whistles, always good to get a new season going and hopefully there will be 9 more good weeks of 6 a side to follow.
