Monday 11th July - Worcester Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the Worcester Monday 6 a side league this week with all 24 teams in attendance for their matches across all three divisions which was pleasing to see.

Unfortunately due to an injury sustained by a Phoenix player in the early stages of their game against Tics on Toure, the game had to be abandoned.  We wish the player in question a speedy recovery and hope to see him back playing before too long.  This game has been recorded as a 0-0 draw for the time being and will be replayed as a double header when these two teams meet on the final week of the season.

Greyhound FC shared a 2-2 draw with Woodgreen FC in an entertaining encounter, Greyhound remain in third place, whilst Woodgreen moved up to fifth and above Rodallega Bombs who were beaten 4-2 by a much improved Ball of Duty this week.  Chateuneuf Du-Pape continued their recent good form as they were 4-1 winners over Pickle Pinchers to stay in fourth place.

Division One leaders General Sports Enthusiasts got their fifth win in six and remain unbeaten so far as they were 4-2 winners over Who Ate All Depays, who lost ground on the top two as second placed Route One Rovers were big 8-0 winners over Goals Aloud.  New team Billy Timbers look a useful addition to the league as they romped to an 8-1 win over Inter Ya Nan, whilst ABCDE FC came out on top of a 13 goal thriller, an incredible game against Crouch Potato in which they won 8-5.

The top two in Division Two went into the game with perfect records each, perhaps unsurprisingly they couldn't be separated as Nomers and Salty Sea-Men drew 2 a piece, Nomers remain top with their vastly superior goal difference at this stage.  That result allowed third place Rybrook Raiders to close the gap slightly on the promotion places as they beat Plunger & Superglue by a convincing 3-0 scoreline.  Balt-J FC got back to winning ways this week as the fifth placed team recorded their second win of the campaign to beat Jewventus by a 4-0 scoreline, whilst We Lose Evra Week moved up two places from bottom to sixth by beating Malvern Massive by a single goal.
