Abingdon Monday 5 a side is back for the new season!
Firstly Happy New Year to all our Abingdon Monday 5 a side teams who returned last night after the Christmas break. We welcomed the Wednesday and Thursday teams back last week so it was good to get the Monday's league going again. We started the new season and although we still have a couple of spots to fill it was great to see all 28 teams in attendance.
The Premier League kicked off with new team Athletico Achilles getting a win in their debut match against newly promoted Norfolk N Clue. Div 1 Champions Ivory Toast went top on goal difference with a 11-4 win over Hadland Rovers while reigning Prem champions Fruity Spartans defeated Jugg FC 11-6.
It's a bit of a mouth full to say but Unnamed 31 year old Everton players went top of Div 1 with a 15-2 victory against Hardly Athletic. New team Green Goblins started with a bang, beating Sevilla Depression 13-5 while a great game between Poortugal and Royal Madrid saw Poortugal win 7-6.
Substandard Liege are top of Div 2 as they returned after the break to win 10-3 against Survey Monkey's. There was a winning start to 2022 for AB's All Whites as they won 11-6 against Div 3 champions Victor Moses Lawn. Another new team Goals Aloud picked up a 8-6 victory against Top Didcot Dawgs which meant all three new teams won on the night.
Sporting John looked strong as they beat Expected Toulouse 9-1 to fire themselves to the top of Div 3. FC Unts are second after they sealed the points with a 7-2 win over Only Put Matip In. The Sticky Bandits were back in action after missing the final match of last season and they returned to win against Cunning Stunts 5-3.
Finally we move into Div 4, we do have a couple of spaces to fill in this division so any new teams get signed up and started next week. Last night we had two very close matches as Intayanan narrowly defeated The Reds 4-3 while Relegations Rovers and McFatty's shared an epic 5-5 draw.
