AFC Wantage seal the Abingdon Monday 5 a side title

We are approaching the end of the season at our Abingdon Monday 5 a side league at Tilsley Park as titles are beginning to be decided throughout the divisions.

One team that has dominated proceedings this season are AFC Wantage as they made it 11 wins from 11 in the Premier League with a 7-2 victory over Hadland Rovers to clinch the Premier League trophy. Congratulations to the lads who have been head and shoulders above the rest this season. The race is on for the runners up spot though as Victorious Secret who only just escaped relegation last season moved into second spot with a 9-3 win over Hardly Athletic. Fruity Spartans are also on the up as they beat Poortugal 8-2 to go third while Coopers Troopers found some form with a 11-4 win over Basically Barca.

The title race in Div 1 is tight as the leaders Unprotected Cesc kept their one point advantage over Sex Drugs and Charlton Cole with a 5-3 win over Substandard Liege while Cole had a points match win due to Where's Mike Gale being away this week. There was also a points match win for Abingdonny's who are not completely out of the promotion race as they sit in third, three points off second.

Ivory Toast all but sealed the Div 2 title with a 8-4 victory against Cunning Stunts. This win puts them 6 points clear of second place Norfolk N Clue who had a big 10-0 win over The Sticky Bandits. Expected Toulouse are level on points with Norfolk and will be sending this promotion race right down to the wire as they won their match against 2 Girls 1 Schlupp 10-3. Survey Monkeys are also still in with a chance as they beat Relegation Rovers 14-1 to stay in 4th, two points off second.

It was a bit of a mixed evening in Div 2 as we had a few sides missing this season. Leaders Royal Madrid picked up a points match win with Survey Monkeys not in attendance. Second place Don Johnson won an entertaining match with Oxford Hit Squad 13-5 to stay two points behind Madrid. Jimmy's Young Boys B and UTC failed to appear for their fixtures despite confirming attendance which is disappointing so Romania and The Score Hero's also had points match wins.

Thank you to our teams and to our refs Dean, Martin, Matt and Ian. See you all next week. We do now have space in our Monday league for new teams so if you are interested please register now and get playing or contact me on 07969 731086 for any details. The Monday league has been full for some time so grab the places while you can. Thanks Rich
