Excellent night at Abingdon Monday 5 a side!

A fantastic evening of 5 a side football last night as we entered week 9 of the season at our Abingdon Monday league. It was great to see all 24 teams in attendance again and it produced some excellent matches across all 3 divisions.

The title race is an exciting one in the Premier League this season with 4 or 5 teams still in with a chance with over half the matches played. The current leaders are Fruity Spartans who put in a solid performance to see off a plucky SWXI side 4-1 to remain two points clear. Coopers Troopers and Hadland Rovers are both tied on 12 points as Coopers won 6-2 against Victorious Secret while Hadland defeated Hardly Athleitc 5-3. Club Tropicana Drinks FC bounced back from their loss to Coopers last week to defeat bottom side Sex Drugs and Carlton Cole 8-4 and lift themselves back up to 4th.

In Div 1 Young Guard picked up a 9-2 win over Cunning Stunts. FCUOB and Basically Barca are both 6 points behind as FCUOB won 11-3 against Substandard Liege while Barca's match ended in a 5-2 win over Class On Grass. Finally KanteFitMyWillian narrowly defeated Savills 4-3.

Tight matches throughout in Div 2 as the leaders Unprotected Cesc edged a tight game with bottom side 2 Girls 1 Schlupp 5-3. Abingdonnys weren't letting Cesc pull away though and are only behind on goal difference as they also picked up a win too, their's came against Expected Toulouse 4-2. In other matches Ivory Toast moved up to 3rd , four points off the promotion places with a 4-2 victory against Tass while Survey Monkeys and Norfolk N Clue shared a 2-2 draw.
