Sex Drugs and Carlton Cole top of Abingdon Mon Div 1

Here's a look at all the action and results from our Abingdon Monday 5 a side league at Tilsley Park as we approach the final couple of games of the summer season. We had a couple of teams away but both have confirmed that they will be back on the 6th September.

Premier League champions AFC Wantage were pushed all the way this week as a strong Fruity Spartans side almost ended Wantage's perfect record this season however Wantage had enough to seal the win 3-2. Wantage will be aiming for two more wins to finish the season off with a 100% record. Hadland Rovers are up to second as they picked up a points match win with Victorious Secret away. Cooper's Troopers managed a 6-2 win over Poortugal while Basically Barca had a comfortable 8-0 victory against Hardly Athletic.

Sex Drugs and Carlton Cole are back on top of the Div 1 as they went above Unprotected Cesc after beating them 5-1. Cesc remain in the second promotion spot but third place Abingdonny's closed the gap to two points with a 7-4 win over Substandard Liege. FCUOB had a points match win with Jimmy's Young Boys away to move into fourth while an entertaining match between Murder On Zidane's Floor and Where's Mike Gale which neither side deserved to loss ended in a 8-7 win for Zidane's.

Ivory Toast secured the Div 2 title but were given one hell of a game by the Sticky Bandits which ended in a 7-7 tie. The point was enough to crown Toast champions in a great season for the lads. Norfolk N Clue are neck and neck with Expected Toulouse for the runners up spot, both on 17 points. Norfolk remain in second on goal difference after a 7-3 win over Relegation Rovers while Expected Toulouse beat Cunning Stunts 9-2. In the other result Survey Monkey took the points in their match with 2 Girls 1 Schlupp winning 9-2.

Royal Madrid's march towards the Div 3 title took a knock as The Score Hero's defeated them 5-2 while second place Don Johnson had a points match win to draw level on points with Madrid. Oxford Hit Squad and Romania also had points match wins due to the spaces in Div 3 however new team IntaYaNan will be joining for the 6th September.

Thank you to all our teams and our match night supervisor Dean for running the evening along with refs Ian, Martin and Tom. Remember there is no league on bank holiday Monday so see you all on Monday 6th September for match day 13. We have a couple of spaces in the league for the new season so new teams please registered online as soon as possible to avoid disappointment or get in touch on 07969 731086 with any questions. Thanks Rich
