New Abingdon 5 a side Monday season kicks off

The summer 5 a side season kicked off last night at our Abingdon Monday league. It was summer weather too at Tilsley Park as the teams took to the pitches.

A strong Massive Irons side started the season in fine form with a 5-1 win over defending champions Ivory Toast in Div 1. Royal Madrid and AB's All Whites also had comfortable wins on the opening night.

The matches in Div 2 were much closer as Sporting John produced an impressive display to beat Div 3 champions Scumbag 7-3. The Village won a nine goal thriller against FC Unts 5-4 while The Sticky Bandits beat Goals Aloud 5-3.

Expected Toulouse top Div 3 after a 9-2 victory against Substandard Liege, not far back on goal difference are Cunning Stunts who won 8-2 against Survey Monkeys. Phil Jones Barmy Army picked up a points match win with Kick It In The Net-ics not able to start until next week.

New team Didwell looked a class above in Div 4 as they comfortably defeated UpTheDucks. There was a good win for Matip who beat McFatty's 8-2 while Intayanan won 7-3 against Relegation Rovers.

Thanks to Dean for running the night along with our refs Ben, Martin and Ian. Good luck next week everyone! Cheers Rich
