Abingdon Monday 5 a side match day 2 report
It was a hot and sticky evening down at Tilsley Park Abingdon for match day 2 of our Monday night 5 a side league. 30 out of 32 sides were in attendance with Y.G.V.2 unable to make it at late notice and Planning Utd failing to appear for the second week running, they will now be removed from the league and replaced with a new team.
The Premier League is going to be another fantastic contest again this season with all sides able to beat each other on their day. New team AFC Wantage are the only team to win their opening two matches as they came through a tough fixture with Victorious Secret to win 3-1. Hadland Rovers produced a wonderful display to beat reigning champions Cooper's Troopers 7-2 and rise to second in the table. Bascially Barca who were promoted from Div 1 put in an impressive performance to beat Fruity Spartans 6-3 while Hardly Athletic won 7-4 against Club Tropicana Drinks FC.
Unprotected Cesc are taking to life in Div 1 with ease as they defeated Where's Mike Gale 10-3 to go top. Also with two wins from two are FCUOB who beat Sex Drugs and Carlton Cole 8-4. Substandard Liege had a points match win due to Y.G.V.2 not being able to attend at late notice while Abingdonnys and KanteFitMyWillian ended their game with a share of the points after a 5-5 draw.
Ivory Toast are looking to make up for just missing out last season with a title push this season. They strolled to a 10-2 win over 2 Girls 1 Schlupp last night to go top of Div 2. They are the only team in Div 2 with a 100% record as the rest took points off each other. Class On Grass picked up an excellent win over The Sticky Bandits 8-5, Survey Monkeys beat Cunning Stunts 5-1 while there were plenty of goals in the game between Norfolk N Clue and Expected Toulouse with Norfolk taking the victory 10-4.
She's Only XI went top of the new Div 3 as they played a points match due to Planning Utd not turning up. As often is the case with new divisions the unreliable teams need to be weeded out and a new team will be replacing Planning Utd next week. Royal Madrid followed up last weeks victory with another one as they beat Tass 8-5 to move into second spot. Romania bounced back from a opening day defeat to Royal Madrid by winning comfortably against Oxford Hit Squad 11-2. Finally new team Survey Donkeys came into the league and began with a win in a great match with The Score Hero's 7-5.
