Unprotected Cesc top Div 1 at Abingdon Monday 5 a side

It was great to see the majority of teams in attendance last night at our Abingdon Monday 5 a side league at Tilsley Park. Survey Donkeys and UTC Ultras were away but will be returning next week. The other 30 teams were all in attendance.

It doesn't look like anyone will stop AFC Wantage from lifting the Premier League trophy this season as they made it nine wins from nine in their latest match. Victorious Secret to their credit gave them a great game before going down 9-5 to the champions elect. Hadland Rovers are now their closest challengers as they moved up to second with a 6-2 victory against reigning champions Coopers Troopers. In other results Fruity Spartans defeated Basically Barca 6-3 while a fantastic match saw Poortugal win 8-7 against Hardly Athletic.

We have new leaders in Div 1 as Unprotected Cesc won 4-0 against Where's Mike Gale to go above Sex Drugs and Carlton Cole who suffered a 5-3 loss to FCUOB. Abingdonnys are now just a point outside the promotion places as they beat Kante 10-3 while Jimmy's Young Boys won 8-6 against Substandard Liege to stay in 4th.

Ivory Toast are storming towards the Div 2 title as they won 14-2 against 2 Girls 1 Schlupp. That's now 17 points, 8 wins and a draw for the Div 2 leaders. Expected Toulouse haven't given up all hope of catching them as they went second with a 8-7 win over Norfolk N Clue which keeps them 4 points behind the leaders with Norfolk dropping to third. Survey Monkeys enjoyed a 7-4 win over Cunning Stunts while The Sticky Bandits defeated Class On Grass 8-4.

Div 3 leaders Royal Madrid were shocked last night as Don Johnson FC moved to within two points of them after a 7-1 victory over them to end their 100% record this season. The Score Hero's picked up a points match win to stay third with Survey Donkeys away while Romania stay 4th after a enthralling game with Oxford Hit Squad ended in a 9-7 win. Finally UTC weren't able to attend at late notice however thank you for getting your match fee paid on time. Jimmy's Young Boys B were able to take the win while still getting a game against Score Hero's.

Thank you to all our teams and our refs Dean, Ollie, Ben and Martin. See you all next week for match day 10.
