MATCH NIGHT REPORT - ROUND 1

Tonight saw the first Game Night post lockdown and it did not disappoint!

We started the night with new side Panashingdon FC taking on Coming Home. The new side showed some really bright sparks of what could be a top top team. Coming Home used their experience from so far in defence but the powerful front line was to much in the end. 2-0 win for the new boys starts their season off with a bang.

Also at 7PM we had Inter v Johnson’s FC. Inter had a new look team on show tonight with the transfer of the season taking Harley Cook from rivals Biffta FC onto their books. Tonight he showed exactly why they wanted him. 4 goals for him and 4 for Alfie sees them go top of the table after week 1 with an 11-1 scoreline.

Then at 7:40 we had Range Rovers v Benfleet. Both sides play similar attacking football and it was hard to call who could take this one after lockdown. But Reid made the difference tonight with an impressive 4 goals to take Rovers to 6-1 victory and a great start to the season.

Our other 7:40 game was Monico v Biffta. 2 of the teams that are always near the top end come season end. With a fresh start this was a great chance for these 2 to capitalise. Despite great chances for either side it was Stoney for Monico who made the difference. 3 for him on the night and 2 big points to start the season for Monico. 4-0 the final score in this one.

Then our 8:20 kick offs saw a new matching orange kit Neil FC take on a new look team Expected Toulouse. After lockdown the first question on everyone’s minds was can Neil come back and play as they did before? The answer is yes. 5-0 up within 5 mins made this game impossible to come back for Toulouse’s new boys. Neil took this one 10-0 and looked like they never left.

Our last game of the night was Balotellitubbies v Show me the Mane. Mane had some new players over tonight who looked to spice up their attacking options. But Balo looked very strong on their return and took this one 4-1. Ant Ayres back with 2 goals to help his team to victory.

What a great night of summer football and boy does it feel good to be back. Can’t wait to see you all next week for more of the same. If you haven’t already please make sure to follow us on FB under ‘Leisure Leagues - Canvey Island’ and IG ‘LLCanvey’ for regular updates!
