MATCH NIGHT REPORT - ROUND 11

Another night of Thursday football is completed!

We started the evening with Range Rovers v Benfleet. Both sides were in similar positions in the table and wanted to add another 2 points to their tally tonight. A close first half was separated from clinical finishes by Benfleet. Rovers did pull one back to make it more interesting but Benfleet saw the game out and eventually won 3–1.

Also at 7 we had Inter Mivan v Johnsons FC. Inter were looking to bounce back from back to back defeats and get their title chase back in action. Johnsons have had a brilliant season so far and had a great chance of adding more woes to the chasers. But Inter did really well tonight and managed to bounce back with a 5-2 victory. A win that puts them back in the hunt.

Then at 7:40 we had Biffta v Monico. 2 sides that were right near the top last season but have dropped off this campaign. This still looked to be a great game. Both sides started brightly and kept each other out. But 2 great goals from Monico saw them take a 2 goal lead at HT. Biffta did their best to fight back in the 2nd half but it wasn’t enough as Monico stayed strong. 2-1 the final score.

Also at 7:40 we had Panashingdon v Coming Home. Panash were looking to continue their form after last weeks win and similar for Coming. Panash controlled the game and had chances galore but couldn’t make their mark. It took a controversial penalty to open the score line and Coming did well to stay in the game. Despite their best efforts Panash saw the game out with a 2-0 victory.

Then at 8:20 we had Neil v Expected Toulouse. Expected were the surprise package of the season so far and rightly fancied their chances against the champions tonight. After Neil took an early lead it looked to be a routine night. But Expected were not making it easy and equalised before HT. The 2nd half saw chances for either side and it was a close game. But Neil did what they do best and showed their quality in the final stages. Late goals saw them win 3-1 and hang onto top spot. A valiant effort from Expected.

Our last game was Balotellitubbies v Show me the Mane. Balo were looking to grab a win after an amazing 3 successive draws. Whereas Mane needed at least a point to build their confidence. Sadly tonight was not their night as Balo were simply ruthless. A dominant performance saw them run out 11-0 winners and end their drawing streak. A top performance and one that will build their confidence for weeks to come.

Another great night over at Waterside tonight. Massive thanks again to all teams in attendance. See you all again for another gray night of football under the lights at Waterside.
