MATCH NIGHT REPORT - ROUND 5

Huge night at Waterside tonight with some amazing and surprising results on show.

First of all apologies to all those who kicked off at 7PM and experienced the issues we had with the gates. It will not happen again.

Our first game saw Balotellitubbies v Expected Toulouse. Balo are in tough form currently but we’re looking to bounce back and get their season started. Expected took a 1-0 lead through a great finish from Joel Jones but a crazy deflection goal for Balo saw this one finish 1-1. A very close game and a point a piece was a fair result.

Also at 7 we had Inter Mivan v Benfleet. Our title contenders were looking to make it 5 from 5 tonight but faced an inform Benfleet side. A very scrappy and tight game was eventually decided through 2 red cards for Inter Mivan. They played the game with 4 and battled on but could not keep Benfleet out. A great Lewis Coxon finish saw them take this 1-0 and suffered a huge blow to Inter’s title hopes.

Then at 7:40 we had Monico v Range Rovers. Previous seasons have seen Monico chasing the title but it’s been a tougher start this year for the experienced group. Tonight they faced an in form Rovers with their star man Alfie leading the way again. 2 goals and a man of the match performance saw Rovers pick up another 2 points and continue their great start to the season.

Also at 7:40 we had Biffta v Coming Home. Biffta had a new look side out tonight and they looked to gel right away. A lovely chipped goal from Levi Pritchard set the tone for a terrific first half showing. Despite Coming Home’s best effort of a comeback they couldn’t quite recover from the first 20 mins. 4-2 the final result.

Then at 8:20 we had Show me the Mane v Johnsons. Both sides have had positive glimpses throughout the first 4 games and were looking to add another 2 points tonight. Despite an even start Johnsons took control of this game and ended up comfortable 5-1 winners. A great result for them that sees them move onto a respectable 6 points from 5 games.

Our final game saw the upset we were never expecting. Neil FC v Panashingdon. This was the first clash between these 2 sides and this really was a fantastic game of football. Our unbeaten 4 x champions were looking to extend their run again tonight but for the first time in over 2 years ended the night in defeat. An early 2 goal lead for Panashingdon was under threat after a Harry Herbert goal but the new boys carried on playing their game and didn’t let the occasion get to them as they played out a terrific game and moved level on points with the top 2. Huge result and one that has shocked the rest of the league for sure!

Massive night for the title race as well as some great results for the mid-table sides. See you all next week for another great night over at Waterside.
