MATCH NIGHT REPORT - ROUND 7

Another huge night of results in tonight’s Thursday night football at Waterside.

We started the night with Balotellitubbies v Coming Home. An important night for both as both needed points to really kick start their seasons. A very tight affair saw the game 0-0 at HT. But a brilliant finish from Brad Dunn for Balo secured a 1-0 victory. Tough result to take for Coming Home who played some great stuff on the night.

Also at 7 we had Inter Mivan take on Range Rovers. Both sides are arguably having their best ever seasons and this looked to be a great game before KO. Tonight Inter showed right why they are up at the top after a very commanding performance and an 8-2 victory. 4 for Harley and 3 for Alfie secured one of their best victories of the season so far.

Then at 7:40 we had Panashingdon v Johnsons FC. Panash were looking to continue their great winning run in their hunt for the title. They faced a Johnsons side bang in form. Panash had a huge amount of chances on the night but GK Ben had an incredible stint in goal to keep the challengers at bay and secured a point for Johnsons. 0-0 final score and Panash will see this as a point dropped.

Also at 7:40 we had Expected Toulouse take on one of our teams on the waiting list due to Benfleet being unable to attend the fixture this week. Toulouse made it very difficult for the new boys and put 9 past them on their opening week. I’m sure the boys will bounce back. 5-0 victory for Toulouse on the website.

Then at 8:20 we had Biffta v Show Me The Mane. Both sides have had slow starts and needed the points here to look to add to their tally. Well Biffta showed why they have been contenders in the past with a masterclass performance. Dean Hall being the star player in a 10-1 thrashing. Night to forget for Mane who will look to come back stronger next week.

Our last game saw Neil FC take on Monico. Always a great match between these 2 sides and it’s usually a race between the two but Monico have dropped off the pace this season. Tonight they had a new look side who wanted to match Neil man for man and play fast paced football. A very competitive game that was 0-0 at HT. Neil we’re constantly knocking on the door for a winner but Monico defended as a unit so well and managed to break on the counter and scored a fantastic goal. They then managed to hold in the final 10 mins for what is a complete shock result. Huge result and a massive boost to Monico whilst this was a real blow for Neil’s defence of this seasons title.

Massive night of results tonight and one that sees Neil drop into 3rd in the table for the first time in over 2 years. It’s Inter’s night tonight as they head into week 7 our new leaders!

Thanks to all teams that took part tonight and look forward to seeing you all again next Thursday!
