Monday Night Football Update

More sun this week and some excellent football being played. As the title says however, the Devil is in the detail as all the 6's came out to play.

6-0

6-1

6-1

Were 3 out of four results in the 6 aside Monday League, and here's how it went down!

First up, League Leaders 2 Girls 1 Schlupp were looking to stay ahead of the pack and continue their run for the title, against new comers to the Monday League, No Cabbages Just Worldies.  2 Girls did the job, in impressive fashion with a 6-0 drumming of the Cabbages.  Goal after goal as they used paced to break the back line.  It could have been more, had it not been for the no Cabbages keeper denying, not one, but FOUR one on one attempts!

We Arbeloa Lot of Teams, who enjoy spoiling a party, took to the field looking to close the gap on the top. After a narrow defeat last week, they wanted to bounce back to winning ways.  Again, this was the way it panned out, with another 6 goals smashed between the sticks.  Only one in conceded in return, put the score at the final whistle, 6-1 - We Arbeloa.

Armitage Shanks, in unfamiliar territory this season, sitting 3rd on the ladder as opposed to the dizzy heights of the top spot, where they were all of last season, turned out in good spirits, as always.  A narrow and frustrating win last week, had them also fired up and looking for penance this week against Green Pete Elite.  It was a GREAT first half of football, with chances at both ends.  Armitage Shanks hit all three pieces of woodwork but not the back of the net.  Those expensive new boots proving VERY costly indeed.

Green Pete Elite were working the ball well, but, alas, they seemed to run out of steam in the second half, and let the game slip out of sight. Speaking of Slip...... Another Armitage striker seemed to be unable to keep on his feet in the second half.  None the less the final score 6-1 to Armitage Shanks!

The final match to report on was the head to head between two new teams in the Division.  Man Chest Hair United and Scholes Galore.  Both teams fielding a few fresh sets of legs, with some new faces appearing for both sides.  There were chances galore in this one, not Scholes, with both teams seemingly unable to break the deadlock.  Both keepers doing some sterling work keeping the ball out of the net.  It was Man Chest Hair who eventually found a gap and neatly slotted the ball home.   Another one followed soon after and there was no reply from Scholes United. Final score here 2-0.

We look forward to next week and to seeing how this season progresses!
