Thursday League News

We returned to Worle last night for Match Week 2 of the new Season.

With Divisions of 10 now in play, there were some tasty fixtures on the cards.

Premier League

My Little Bony faced their old foes Francesco Shotti, a match that has been played out for many seasons now, and as always, provides a spectacle.  True to fashion it was a high tempo fixture with end to end action.  The final result however was a victory for Shotti, who took the match out 4-2.

Recent arrivals to the Premier League, Robben Me Blind, faced their fiirst big challenge of the season, a head to head with 6 time Premier League Champions Chicken Tikka Mo-Salah.  It was a high spirited game with both teams hungry for the win, and looking to show some dominance on the table early in the season.  Robben Me Blind managed to squeeze two between the sticks, while Chicken Tikka failed to score.  End result Robben 2 -0 Tikka!

The young guns, Sex, Drugs and Carlton Cole, took on A.C Me Rolling, who are attempting a charge for the title in their first full season at Leisure Leagues.  This was another high tempo match, with Carlton Cole going ahead early and doubling up before half time. The lads from A.C Me Rolling got quite a talking to at half time and came back from the break even more determined.  They managed to put two away in the send half, but not without reply from Carlton Cole. Final Result 3-2 Carlton Cole.

Scoops FC, also fresh into the Premier League this season, squared up to Six Offenders, in their first meeting together in the League.  Scoops Came to the park to make a mark, and that they did, on form, and firing 10 past the Six Offenders keeper, and only managing to squeeze 1 in the net in reply.

Finally, Moves Like Agger, looking to continue their run of form looked determined for another 2 points. They showed their dominance and slotted home 3 without reply.

Division 1

Lucky Punts returned tonight to face a new challenge in Karius to Glory. It had the makings of a decent match up, with both teams passionate about their football!  It was a well played out fixture with both teams seeing a lot of the ball.  In the end no team could break the deadlock, so a well deserved 1-1 draw was the final result.

Ruud van Nipplejoy looked to find some form and return to winning ways, as they faced new arrivals Adam Johnson's. Welcome them they did by tidily placing 4 in the back of the net, with the opposition only managing 2, Nipplejoy taking the win and the points.

New Boys MFC arrived at the park to face off against Leisure Leagues stalwarts, Geriatricos.  They too were a team looking to stamp their mark on the division as new boys on the block.  They squeezed a hat-trick past the Geri's keeper, without response, so, they pick up their first win with Leisure Leagues.

That's the good bit done! Now for the bad.

All players should be reminded that Leisure Leagues will absolutely not tolerate violence of any kind, nor persistent dissent towards our referees.  Players will be fined and banned at the very least, with the risk of the team also being penalised.

We understand that players will not always agree with the referee, that is pretty natural for a football player right? nHowever there is a line that cannot be crossed!

If you have any issues that you would like to discuss, Andy is always at the League or you can e-mail, text or call either of us (Melissa or Andy) at any time.

REMEMBER - this is SOCIAL FOOTBALL  we aim to keep it that way at all costs.
