Thursday League Update

It was a beautiful day in Weston yesterday, with temperatures soaring, unfortunately this didn't carry through to the evening and as the sun went down, so did the temperature! To top it all off the fog descended late in the evening making visibility tough.

Teams however, were firing on all cylinders, raring for some action. There were some tight matches, as the new format 10 team divisions, seem to be throwing up some interesting results.

Premier League

Robben Me Blind hold onto the top spot this week with a point in hand, despite being edged, in a highly passionate match with Milan, who hold fast in position 8 in the table.  End to end action here in a match that ended Milan 2 - 1 Robben Me Blind.

Moves Like Agger climb to second, BUT, only on a count back to number of matches won!  They faced premier league stalwarts My Little Bony and managed to score 5 with only 1 conceded in reply.

On equal points with Agger and equal, goal difference, goals scored and goals conceded, Chicken Tikka Mo-Salah drop to third after their top of the bill head to head with the young guns, Sex Drugs and Carlton Cole. Neither team could find a winner here as the final score was a 1-1 draw.

Scoops FC climb again into 5th with last night's opposition Francesco Shotti sitting behind them with the lesser goal difference.  Neither team could find a winner, nor a goal in this game with the final result a goal less draw!

With Inter Ur Nans sunning themselves in Greece, Six Offenders picked up a Points Match Win and climb off of the bottom spot this week.

Division 1

Ruud Van Nipplejoy top the table this week as they trade places with Adam Johnson's.  Nipplejoy taking a 5-0 win in the foggy conditions of the late kick off.

Adam Johnson's slip to second after their match up with Shooter Tooters.  This was a scrappy match of ill discipline from both sides, the referee dishing out rare yellow cards and even a red for dissent.  These will be dealt with accordingly and players are reminded that this sort of behaviour is not acceptable.  Despite the scrappy game it was Shooter Tooters that took the victory 2-0.

Geriatricos left the field disappointed, and rightly so,  after arriving for their match and not having an opponent arrive.  This is both frustrating and an inconvenience for the lads, who love to play their football!  The team who failed to arrive will also be dealt with, and WILL be expelled from the League, but, don't panic, we have a team in the wings that we are in conversation with, and should debut next week.

MFC hold fast in the middle of the table after taking a narrow win at the expense of Lucky Punts. It could have been a level field, if it had not been for a fine penalty save from the MFC keeper.

Finally Karius to Glory also took a Points Match win, after The Armada called and cancelled late in the piece.

So all in all a scrappy night at Worle.  I cannot emphasise enough how frustrating it is for people when games are cancelled last minute, or a team does not arrive. PLEASE can all teams do their very best to fulfil fixtures.  If you are short a couple of players, please let us know and we can assist you with finding some helpers. People leave their houses and families to play football!  Thank you to the teams who week in and week out do what they can to always attend.
