Sunday 24th April - Stamford Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the Stamford Sunday 6 a side league this week, which saw all teams in attendance throughout the night for the first matches of the new season!

It was quite symmetrical in terms of results, with two 3-0's and two 2-0's to kick the season off.

Raki Raiders got off to an encouraging start as they ran out 3-0 winners over new boys Woowaweewa Wanderers who moved from our Peterborough league and seem to be adjusting to their new surroundings.  Champagne Super Rovers won by the same scoreline as they brushed aside Xavi Dodgers in a comfortable result.

Last season' champions Hansi Flick My Balls came up against last season's bottom side, but the result was closer than anticipated as the champions ended up running out 2-0 winners in a closely contested game.  Last terms Runners-Up Gopping Lizards finished with the same scoreline against a young Stuart Survivors team in another closely competed game.

We thank all teams for their continued commitment and reliability towards the league and look forward to seeing all in attendance for game week 2's matches on Sunday 1st May with Stamford's premier providers of small sided football!
