Unreal Madrid kept the pressure on as the 6 a side league in Kilkenny got back underway as the lockdown eased.
With the matches being played for the first time since March 8th, Madrid kept the pressure on Donermeat FC at the top of the table with a 3-2 squeak over Piqueblinders.
Meat are still the tasty team to beat, though and stay ahead on goal-difference.
There is an incredible race at the top of the table, with the top six teams separated by just three points.
Gaelic Utilities are another team that is right up at the top in the fight for the championship, and their 5-2 thumping of Rapid Vienetta will send shockwaves through the whole division.
That defeat leaves Vienetta bottom of the table, as Jay1Jay1 FC moved clear at the basement with a 2-2 draw with AFC Brexit, who themselves lost ground on the other title challengers.
Pathetico Madrid were the days other winners, edging out AC Me Rollin by the odd goal in three.
Next weeks fixtures pit Donnermeat against Pathetico and see Madrid taking on Rollin.
There may well be another new team too, as Area Manager Ashlee Parker explained: “We have been delighted that we have had so much interest since we announced the return of the leagues,” she said. “We have had so many teams sign up, that the league is full for this weekend, but we will be hoping to start a new division in the coming days, so get your team in now and be part of it.”

The Kilkenny competition and the other leagues that Leisure Leagues operate around the world are all subject to the new Post Covid-19 regulations which include not shaking hands and not getting within two metres of the match officials. REGULATIONS ARE HERE
According to Ashlee, these have all worked superbly well: “Everyone bought into them,” she smiled “and it was great to see, more than that though, it was just great to be back, doing what we do best and giving community sport to people who have missed it so much.”Back to Blog
