FOOTBALL'S COMING HOME: GUERNSEY IS GO!

Football’s Coming Home.

You don’t know how long we’ve waited to say that  – and you to hear it, no doubt.

For the first time since March 19th we can say the words that mean that the world is returning to normal: 6 a side football is back.

We can confirm that this afternoon that we have received the go-ahead to resume our Guernsey league next Wednesday evening, the 24th June.

The wonderful news coincides with the return of the Premier and Football Leagues this weekend and marks the first step on the road to fitness for the entire UK.

Area Manager Greg Allen was delighted and added: “It’s fantastic that we are able to do what we do best again, and we cannot wait to welcome everyone to the KGV pitch next week.”

The league will be the first to have the new social distancing rules that Leisure Leagues announced in place, and Greg said: “I will be ringing all captains to go through everything with them.”

He was also quick to praise the staff at the KGV, commenting: “It seems they have taken a progressive approach to things over on the Island. They recently played the first international cricket match anywhere in the world for a long time, and we are incredibly grateful to them for allowing us to operate, and the people of Guernsey to get some vital exercise.”

With lockdown arrangements gradually easing, and with further relaxations expected imminently, it is anticipated that all of our leagues will resume in the next few weeks. We are ready to kick them off again as soon as we are able.
