Monday 27th February - Cannock Round-Up

It was a good evening's football in the Cannock Monday 6 a side league this week which saw all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled across all four divisions.

Skillage in the Village claimed back their four point lead this week as the games seem to be running out for second placed Harchester.  Skillage claimed a 3-1 win over BarSportelona whilst Harchester were humbled 4-3 by Foley Kings who made it four wins in 5 as they look like real contenders next season.  A 3-1 win for Gem Carpets keeps them in third place although a title challenge looks beyond reach for this season.  In a common them, a third 3-1 scoreline was achieved by Neville Wears Prada who saw off Bridge Rejects to complete the divisions action and give them an outside chance of survival in the last three.

Division One remains as close as ever, and Sevilla Depression are now looking over their shoulders as the previously unbeaten team were beaten for the second week running, losing 4-1 to fellow promotion hopefuls Tekkerslovakia, who stay in third.  Sporting Bad Haircuts piled on the pressure massively this week as the second placed team are now just a point off the leaders, and now have a better goal difference following an 11-1 thrashing of Socks.  Fourth placed Karius To Glory are still well in the hunt and their 3-1 win against Thiago X Silva sees them complete the four team group separated by just two points!  Unfortunately due to a broken ankle sustained by a Smokehouse player, their game against Harriers was abandoned after under 10 minutes.  We wish the Smokehouse player all the best and a speedy recovery and hope to see him back playing at some point in the future.

The Division Two promotion race is just as close heading into the last three games, with the top three teams locked on 17 points apiece after this weeks action.  Leaders Madeleine Milan were beaten handsomely by fellow candidates Arcade Cannock who ran out 4-0 winners over their rivals in an accomplished performance, despite this the winners dropped out of the promotion places as The Swan FC moved up to second with an 8-0 thrashing of Xavi Dodgers which boosted their goal difference significantly.  Fourth placed Allison Wonderland had to settle for a point this week as they were held to a 2-2 draw by ADI Cannock, whilst Special Ones won a six goal thriller 4-2 against Just Matip.

In Division Three the top two possibly unsurprisingly cancelled eachother out this week as leaders Red Hot Chilli Knackers and second placed Koch In Dias shared a 1-1 draw.  Third placed Pathetico Madrid could've took advantage of this result and got within a point of the top two, but they remain 2 points behind as they had to settle for a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Lallanas In Pyjamas.  Beacon Bombs pulled themselves back into the promotion hunt too after a 5-1 hammering of Set 8 Ballers.  The action was completed by a ten goal thriller as Ayden B were winners of an end to end game which they won 6-4.

We thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment towards the league which keeps the league running on time and smoothly each week too.  As ever, if you have any queries regarding the league, you can contact Shaun at Head Office on 0333 123 2340.

We wish all teams good luck going into the next round of fixtures with Cannock's premier providers of small sided football!
