Monday 27th June - Cannock Round-Up

It was another good evening's football in the Cannock Monday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance for their matches across all four divisions, the only exception to this was BarSportelona who had given 7 days notice due to holidays.  They return to action on Monday 4th July.

We welcomed a new team into the Premier Division this week as Half Pump and Dribble made their debuts in the league, moving over from the Burntwood Monday league.  They gave a good account of themselves for their first game, only losing 2-0 to Cannock Young Boys in a well competed game.  Peasports continue their impressive campaign as the leaders look determined to get over the line and take the title in their first season since promotion, they thrashed third placed Aston Villagers 6-1.  Second placed Harchester United got back to winning ways this week as they narrowly beat Skillage by a goal to nil to remain two points off the leaders going into next weeks crunch clash.  Cannockbis Dank Council got a vital 2-1 win over Sporting Bad Haircuts as four teams are locked on eight points in a bid for survival.

There were few surprises in the second v bottom clash in Division One this week as Borussia Teeth were handsome winners over Club Bates in a game that ended 6-1, a result which sees them go top after this weeks action, as River Plate dropped to second after narrowly losing 2-1 against Nice to Michu in a surprise result.  Third placed Gem Carpets keep their promotion hopes alive and keep the pressure on the top two as they romped to a 4-1 win against PG.  Karius to Glory edged further from the drop zone after a vital 2-0 win against Thiago X Silva who remain second bottom.

Bridge Rejects look to have sewn up the title in Division Two as they got a 5-0 win this week, whilst second placed Sevilla Depression drew 4-4 with third placed Special Ones.  Alisson Wonderland dropped to fourth as they were beaten 3-1 against The Arcade Cannock who move out of the drop zone on goal difference, whilst The Swan improved on last weeks draw by beating Harriers 4-2, although survival looks a stretch for them as the games run out.

Another win for Division Three leaders It Was Just Matip will see them confirm promotion as they cruised to a 5-0 win over Sheffield Monday.  Real Sosobad in second place were 3-1 winners over Pathetico Madrid as they also have a foot in Division Two, it will boil down to who can take the title for these two.  Promotion will be a bridge too far this season for third placed Red Hot Chilli Knackers who drew 1-1 with Lallanas In Pyjamas, whilst completing the action was Beacon Bombs who leapfrogged Bazikstan FC after beating them 3-1.
