Monday 27th March - Cannock Round-Up

It was another fantastic evening's football in the Cannock Monday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance for their matches as scheduled and some well competed games played throughout the night to kick off the new campaign.

There were four cracking games in the Premier Division with newly promoted Karius to Glory starting their season off like a house on fire as they demolished Bridge Rejects 7-0 in a clinical performance in front of goal.  Champions Skillage In the Village started as they mean to go on for their title retention, winning a well competed game against Gem Carpets by 3 goals to 1.  Another newly promoted team, Tekkerslovakia put in a good performance but lost out to a more clinical Aston Villagers who were 2-0 winners in a solid performance.  The action for the division was completed by Harchester United recovering from 2-0 down to rescue a point courtesy of two late goals, the game ending 2 apiece.

In Division One recently relegated Barsportelona were hoping for a more positive start in their quest for promotion, instead they were stunned as Thiago X Silva came racing out of the blocks to put 9 past them without reply!  Sevilla Depression looked in good shape themselves and were 4-1 winners over Sporting Bad Haircuts, whilst The Swan FC looked comfortable in their new surroundings, picking up a fine 3-0 win over Harriers on their first game in Division One.  The other game in the division saw promoted v relegated as The Arcade Cannock, fresh from promotion from Division Two put in a good shift against former Premier Division outfit Neville Wears Prada, a well competed contest ending 2-2 as both teams took a point on the season opener.

Madeleine Milan missed out on promotion from Division Two by the narrowest of margins last season, and look determined not to let it happen again this time round judging by their opening day performance in which they crushed recently relegated Smokehouse 7-1.  The Special Ones won a ten goal thriller against ADI Cannock which finished 6-4,  It was a good night for the newly promoted teams as Division Three champions Red Hot Chilli Knackers battled to a 2-1 win over Paris Ganja Man, Koch In Dias got off to a fine start as they overcame Socks 5-3.

Division Three saw a real end to end game as Just Matip and Gangsters Allardyce scored a whopping 14 goals between them, Matip looking to bounce back to Division Two took the points though in a game that ended 8-4!  It was a dream start for Dijk In Dias who thrashed new boys Netsix and Chill 6-0, whilst the other two games saw fewer goals but were tightly contested, Ayden B edging out Set 8 Ballers 2-1 and Beacon Bombs looking to go up this time round beating Pathetico Madrid 2-0.

We thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment to the league and wish all good luck going into the next round of fixtures with Cannock's premier providers of small sided football.
