Wednesday 18th May - Cannock Round-Up

It was another excellent evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week, which saw all teams in attendance for their matches throughout the night across all four divisions, the only exception being Vic FC who've now been removed and replaced with new team Romasexuals who we wish good luck going into their first fixture on Wednesday 25th May.

Nutmeg City's rich vein of form continues as they edged past Cat Zouma by 2 goals to 1 to win their fifth game in six, remaining two points ahead of Exeter Gently.  Athletic Bilswan leapfrogged Zouma into third place taking advantage of their defeat by comfortably beating Banglasesh FC 3-0.  Ideal FC and Shoal Hill Tavern played out an eight goal thriller which ended all square at 4-4.

Oriental Delight continue to dominate Division One and picked up their sixth win in succession, beating Randy Bin Men 5-2.  Second placed Shameless 6 lost ground on the leaders and are now level on points with third placed Newstead FS who beat them 3-1 this week in an important promotion clash, whilst fourth placed 5 Ways FC drew 1-1 with Baldeaux to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Division Two has changed at the top as SMC move to the summit following their 4-2 win over Strongbow Unathletic, whilst Traff FC moved into second place after winning a 6-5 thriller against Leavemyarsealona, as Inter Yanan dropped from top to third place following a surprise 5-1 defeat to Huntington FC.  Cesc Pistols and Limes FC completed the action as they played out a 1-1 draw which sees Limes remain in the bottom two.

Division Three could not be any tighter as Double Pogba and Coke slipped from top to fifth place in just one week after they were beaten convincingly by Wyld Stallyns 4-0, a result which sees Stallyns enter the top two.  Sevilla Lacatalent now lead the way in the division as they were 4-2 winners over bottom placed Fiveways, whilst Demba 9 Ba ground on a hard fought 2-1 win over Cross Bar-Celona to move into third position.  Newolvabora complete the quartet of teams on 8 points after they were 4-2 winners against Limes FC 2 in what is shaping up to be a group of death type division!

Pique Blinders got back to winning ways in Division Four as they go top following a 2-0 win over Haven't Got One Yet who drop to second.  HStikkytokky and Ooff FC remain in third and fourth place respectively and had to settle for a 1-1 draw as they met this week.  Ball of Duty brought themselves back into the promotion shakeup despite sitting in fifth, they are only two points off the leaders following a convincing 4-0 win over 6Men1Cup.  Finally, Deportivo La Cannock made it 2 wins in a row and 3 unbeaten after they were 3-1 winners over The Pitmen.

We wish all teams good luck going into game week 7 with Cannock's premier providers of small sided football and thank all teams for their continued commitment and reliability which ensures the league runs smoothly on a weekly basis.
