Wednesday 23rd March - Cannock Round-Up

It was another good evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled, apart from Pye Green Massive who have now withdrawn from the league after fulfilling their two weeks notice.

Top of the table Exeter Gently sealed the title this week with two weeks to spare, as they thrashed Fevers Finest by 8 goals without reply.  Second placed Nutmeg City suffered a surprise 4-3 reverse at the hands of Ideal FC who secured their Premier Division status with this result, whilst completing the action was Athletic Bilswan's 3-1 win over Murder on Zidane's Floor (now called Cat Zouma) in a high intensity game which was well competed.

Oriental Delight ran out 4-2 winners over 5-Ways FC this week to stay at the top of the table, whilst Mable's Spartans were 1-0 winners over Shameless 6 to all but confirm promotion to the top division next season!  Elsewhere Strongbow moved a step closer to safety as they cruised to a 5-0 win over Limes FC.

Division Two leaders Vic FC look set for promotion as they were comfortable 4-0 victors over Leavemyarsealona, another win would do the job for them.  Second placed Baldeaux were 3-1 winners over bottom of the table Wyld Stallyns who will be playing Division Three football next season.  Traff FC are still in with a chance of promotion as they sit two points off the second placed team following their comfortable 3-0 win against Limes FC 2, whilst SMC FC ran out 4-1 winners against new boys Huntington FC.

Cesc Pistols moved into second place in Division Three this week after a comfortable 10-3 win over Demba 9 Ba who gave a good account of themselves playing with only 5 men, but got tired as the game went on.  Sevilla Lacatalent dropped to third spot after losing out 4-3 to Five Ways who move closer to safety and now sit fifth.  Elsewhere Newolvabora are still in with a chance of promotion, they sit just a point off second place as they sit fourth, they were 5-1 winners over Ball of Duty this week.

Division Four leaders Double Pogba and Coke (formerly Capri Sun) were held to a 2-2 draw by Haven't Got One Yet for the second week in a row, thanks to a late equaliser in a superb game, it was good enough to seal promotion for them however after missing out last season.  Gangsters Allardyce need just a single point to confirm their promotion as the second placed team were 2-0 winners over HStikkytokky, whilst third placed Cross Barcelona did as much as they could to keep their faint hopes of promotion alive, running out 3-1 winners against The Pitmen.  Deportivo La Cannock made it three unbeaten as they shared the spoils with new boys Ooff FC in a 1-1 draw.
