Wednesday 2nd February - Cannock Round-Up

It was another good evening's football this week in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league, with all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled, the only disappointments being the failures to attend from Cheslyn Hay and Mick Bustin's Boys who will both be spoken to accordingly  SMC gave us a weeks notice of their unavailability which we thank them for, and they return to action on Wednesday 9th February.

On the pitch it was another great night's football starting in the Premier Division, where Nutmeg City went back to the top of the table after they were convincing 5-1 winners over Ideal FC, whilst previous leaders Murder on Zidane's Floor dropped to third after a 5-2 humbling against Athletic Bilswan.  Exeter Gently went into second place after their 5-0 walkover due to SMC being unavailable, and Banglasesh stay 4th after they also got a 5-0.

Decorer FC continue their superb start to the season, staying top of the Division One table with a 4-2 win over Pye Green Massive, they are looking for their third straight promotion since joining the league, incredibly having won 20 of 23 games since playing on a Wednesday!  Oriental Delight moved into second spot, winning by the same score line against Shameless 6, whilst Mables Spartans 3-1 win over struggling Limes FC sees them move into third.  Strongbow climbed out of the bottom two as they got back to winning ways with a 3-2 win over Newstead.

Baldeaux kept a second consecutive clean sheet as they now top Division Two following a convincing 5-0 win over Leavemyarselona who remain second bottom.  Athletico Madras drop to second place after they were held to a 1-1 draw by a hard working Traff FC, whilst Vic FC were dominant against an inconsistent Teenage Mutant Ninja Skrtels whom they inflicted a heavy 6-1 defeat on to climb into fourth spot.  Limes FC piled on the misery for Wyld Stallyns after they thrashed them 7-1 to keep Stallyns rooted to the foot of the table, and conceding an unusually high number of goals this term.

Big results at the top of Division Three this week, as Borussia Teeth inflicted a 6-3 defeat on Cesc Pistols, moving Teeth to the top of the table, and seeing Cesc fall three places into fourth, as Sevilla Lacatalent and Fiveways both capitalised with wins, Sevilla securing a 2-1 win over Newolvabora and Fiveways coming from behind to win a great game 3-2 over Demba 9 Ba.

Capri Sun ensured their five star start to the season continued, running out 2-0 winners over HStikkytokky to give them a fifth straight victory as they have promotion firmly in their sights.  Cross-Barcelona continue to occupy second place after they were 3-0 winners against Deportivo La Cannock, and Gangsters Allardyce moved into third place following a 4-1 win over The Pitmen in which they stuck to the task after falling behind.  Haven't Got One Yet and FC Borussia Teeth completed the action in the division as the two were involved in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Good luck to all teams going into the next round of fixtures with Cannock's premier providers of small sided football!
