AXMINSTER 6 A SIDE - WEDNESDAY ROUND UP

Week 8 of 10 played out last night in our brilliant 12 team league of 6 a side football in Axminster and the exciting season continues. The top two in the Premier League are only separated by goal difference which could prove crucial with just a couple of games to go in the title race. Leaders Portsmuff were held to an entertaining 2 - 2 draw by Farmers Weekly giving Crouch Potato the chance to match them on 13 points with their 3 - 0 win over Staro. Assuming both the top two win their remaining games, Crouchy will need to better Portsmuffs results by 8 goals to become champions for the 1st time. It's a tight league this one so nothing is certain but it will be fascinating to see how the final few weeks pan out.
At the other end of the table former champions Uplyme & Sinker are doing all they can to stay in the division, Chris Wellman netted a fine hat-trick last night to give them some hope as they got the better of Nice to Michu who now seem destined for the drop. The final score was 5 - 1 and with a repeat fixture next Wednesday it could go to the wire to decide who remains in the top flight next season.

The Division One title looks to be heading the way of Lionel Moosey who now sit 3 points clear of Quaresma Balls in 2nd following their 2- 1 defeat to 6 A Cider. Moosey won and won well against Vikings to stretch ahead at a crucial time and they know that one win from their final 2 games will see them crowned as champions. In the lower half of the table The Roy's enjoyed a good 3 - 1 win over A&C Dads but both sides will finish the season in the bottom two.

Thanks as always to Lance and his team for managing match night for us, we always have entertaining games in Axminster and it's a brilliant league. Well done to all the teams and good luck for the run in to the end of the season.
