FARMERS WEEKLY - CHAMPIONS OF AXMINSTER 6 A SIDE

Congratulations to Darren and all his FARMERS WEEKLY team on winning this Wednesday night 6 a side season in Axminster. They finish the 22 week season four clear at the top on 38 points. 2nd place goes to Uplyme & Sinker on 34 points, just ahead of Portsmuff on goal difference.

In this final week of the season, Uplyme & Sinker were held to a 1 - 1 draw by The Roys while Portsuff won 5 - 0 against LR Dons, Sam Bond finishing strongly with a hattrick to finish joint top scorer for the season. The Champions were also denied victory in the final round of games, NYC FC battling hard to secure a 3 - 3 draw. 2 Goals 1 Cup were the biggest winners on the night as Brooklyn Wilkins netted 5 and Jack White 3 in their 11 - 2 win against Nice to Michu. A.I.FC picked up a good 2 points with their 6 - 2 win over Winsham United, Cam Bound with 3 for the side formally known as Chards Chopsys and there was a positive end to the season for Vikings who enjoyed a 2 - 0 win over 6 A Cider.

So it was a title race that went right down to the final few weeks with some brilliant football played by all of our teams. Our golden boot award is shared between Sam Bond of Portsmuff and Simon Smith of Uplyme & Sinker, well done to you both. Outside of the top 3 we have 2 Goals 1 Cup finishing 4th on 31 points with A.I.FC coming 5th. NYC FC complete the top 6 on 28 points and these teams will now form the top flight in our new two divisional format starting next week. The lower half of the table, consisting of Nice to Michu, The Roys, LR Dons, 6 A-Cider, Winsham Utd and Vikings will now become division one, meaning more competitive games for everyone moving forward. The new 10 week seasons will include promotion and relegation between the divisions for the top two and bottom two sides each season.

Huge thank you too all the players involved this season, especially to the captains who do a brilliant job in organising their teams. Rich and I are really happy with how this league has progressed since we took on the area and we are grateful for you all getting onboard with things like the online payments. The 2 divisional change is the next step and im confident that this will further improve the football experience you already enjoy in Axminster. As mentional already we restart next Wednesday and the new seasons fixtures will be out very soon.

Lastly I just want to thank Lance and his crew doing their thing on match nights each week. As the face of Leisure Leagues they do a brilliant job and i'm sure as players you will want to join us in thanking them for their efforts.

Congratulations again to our winners, good luck to everyone with the new season.

Cheers

Rob
