UPLYME & SINKER CHAMPIONS OF AXMINSTER

Our brilliant season of 6 a side concluded last night at Axminster Leisure Centre with Uplyme & Sinker crowned as Premier League Champions. It's been a dominant season for the team who have amassed 17 points from their 10 games to finish 4 clear of runners up Portsmuff. The season ended with a 2 - 1 win for the champions over A.I.FC who finish a creditable 3rd. Portsmuff knew the title was out of their grasp before play started last night so dropping a point against Division One bound Nice to Michu carried no relevance as their season ended with an entertaining 2 - 2 draw. The end of season Potato derby turned into an absolute classic as the teams both played out of their skins in an 8 goal thriller. Matt Levett smashed in 4 for Crouchy to give them the win but New Potatoes avoided a roasting as Ed Parr chipped in with a couple. Unfortunately their relegation was already confirmed and they will join Nice to Michu in Division One next season.

Their places in at the top table will be taken by Farmers Weekly and Quaresma Balls who both gain promotion with Farmers going up as deserved champions. They just missed out on a clean sweep of 20 points though, being held to a brilliant 4 - 4 draw last night by Vikings. Quaresma did win to close the gap at the top to 4 points and they can be pleased with their runners up spot which was confirmed with a 1 - 0 win over 6 a Cider. The Roys take 3rd place and rounded off their season nicely with a 5 - 1 win against A&C Dad's.

Our golden boot winners are Brad from Uplyme & Sinker in the prem, finishing just ahead of team mate Alex while Sam Jaffe takes the Div One award for his 17 goals, well clear of Gavin Herrod and Mitch from Farmers in 2nd.

Thank you to all our teams for an excellent campaign, especially you captains who get organised and sort your teams each week. Also a massive thank you to our officials Lance, Simon and Jason for doing a brilliant job all season for us. We couldn't run this league without the refs and we are very grateful for the work they all do.

The new season will get started next Wednesday and all teams are automatically entered so please be ready to go, the fixture times will be out very soon.

Well done to the winners and good luck to everyone for the new season.
