Dads show the boys how it’s done in Calne six a side

Just when you thought the Leisure Leagues Calne Tuesday six a side from Beversbrook Sports Facility could not have any more twists and turns the teams surprised us yet again as the league flipped on its head once more.

The first game saw two sides competing for the league title go head to head. Chicken Tikka Mo Salah and Dads Dream Team Reborn fought out a highly charged and competitive match. Both teams had plenty of chances but in both instances the keepers were in fine form. Chicken’s keeper pulled off some excellent saves from Dads powerful and long range efforts while Dads keeper would fling himself at the feet of any player who was trying to engineer a shooting position for themselves. The two kept the game on a knife edge until Dads eventually found the breakthrough that their pressure warranted. The win ensures that Dads go back top of the table while Chicken are still in the fight just five points back.

The other early kick off saw Netsix and Chill get back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-1 win over bottom of the table Holo FC. The goals came from Oscar himself who was in fine form in front of goal. Holo showed plenty of fighting spirit and kept going until the end managing to grab a goal back late on. After some disappointing results saw them slip down the table this win gets them moving back in the right direction. They now sit just three points behind the league leaders and with plenty of big games left to play they are comfortably in the hunt for the title.

The late kick offs were just as entertaining and full of action as the ones that came before. In the first RichTeaWellens came up against the Rushes. RichTea this season have played good football but have more often than not been on the wrong end of close games far too often. This game was no different. They actually went ahead early on in the game and for a long time looked like they would hold off the Rushes to take the points. As the game progressed towards its climax The Rushes got the breakthrough from Dean. The equaliser seemed to lift the Rushes and with Dean leading the line they were always going to get a chance late on. When it came he took it like a seasoned pro. The win elevates the Rushes to third in the table just three points behind the current league leaders.

The final game and possible the best game of the night was between TMT and Fitness Box. The quality of football in this game from both teams was at time scintillating. The difference was captain Liam who took the game by the scruff of the neck and drove his team to victory. The first came from a quick break in which Liam ran almost the whole length of the pitch and had the energy left to put the ball in the back of the net. The second came after a period of sustained pressure. The win elevates TMT so that they are now only 4 points off the top spot. Fitness Box on the other hand drop crucial points just as they were building a head of steam. They are still very much in the hunt but will need to make sure they get back to winning ways at the next opportunity.

To find out if they can do this tune in next week!
