Dean on fire on cold night at Beversbrook six a side

On a cold windy Tuesday night in Calne some teams rose to the occasion while others faltered. The result was yet another night of upsets which has seen the league become even tighter than it was before with 3 points separating the top 5 in the league.

Both of the early kick off ms were tight a competitive for the full 30 minutes. In the first RichTea finally managed to be on the receiving end of a close game after come up short on so many occasions this season. They beat title contenders Netsix and Chill 1-0 to confirm that they should be much higher up the table had they had the run of the green this season. RichTea will hope to use this performance to build momentum ahead of the new campaign. For Netsix it puts them on the back foot in the title race. They can not afford any more slip ups.

The other early kick off saw a great game between Chicken Tikka and TMT. The game was lively but played in great spirits. It was end to end and both teams had great chances and felt as though they should have walked away with the points. Just as the game looked to be heading for a draw TMT got into the box. The shot looked to be heading wide but a deflection first off the defender and then off the cross bar left Chicken Tikka’s keeper no chance. The win almost certainly removes Chicken Tikka from the title race while TMT, despite joining the season late, are right in it just two points off the league leaders.

The first of the late games saw two of the top 5 teams go head to head as The Rushes took on Dads Dream Team Reborn. In what was a fiery game both teams gave it their absolute all in pursuit of victory. Neither team was satisfied with playing for a draw and so there were chances aplenty. With the scores 1-1 and the game heading into its final minutes. The Rushes broke on Dads. Receiving the ball wide Neil had just about enough time to deliver the ball into the box for Dean to get on the end of it. The man has been in a rich vain of form recently and he made no mistake. Slotting the ball home from close range to seal the win.

In the other late kick off Fitness Box avoided a scare by beating Holo FC in a free flowing and high scoring game. It finished 5-3 but if it hadn’t been for a second half hat trick from stand in Charlie Bunworth then Fitness Box may well have been kissing goodbye to their chances of winning the trophy. For Holo this was one of their strongest performances of the season so far and gives hope that next season they can unleash their potential on a more consistent basis.

With only four games remaining in the current season we are actively looking for new teams to join the league.
