Fitness Box turn on the style in Beversbrook six a side

It was another night which people may well look back on as a crucial time in the Calne Tuesday six a side. The Beversbrook Sports Facility was full of high octane footballing action as teams like the Rushes and Chicken Tikka Mo Salah did battle in order to try and have themselves crowned as Leisure Leagues champions.

The most significant game of the night had to be Fitness Box V Dads Dream Team Reborn. After a few slip ups in recent games this match represented a coming of age for Fitness as they absolutely smashed Dads all over the football pitch. They out-competed them in every department and their finishing was sublime. They scored all different types of goal. Some were long range fire bolts, others were delicately worked team goals. With the win they have catapulted themselves into first place in the league. They might be level on points with Dads but they have a far superior goal difference. They have made a statement in the legaue but time will tell if they can maintain it all the way to the end of the season.

The other early game saw the Rushes play Netsix and Chill. Netsix were top a few weeks ago but have slipped back following some disappointing performances in recent weeks. This was a much better performance but it still wasn't enough to compete with the Rushes who continue to go from strength to strength. They might be the veterans of the league but what they lack in fitness they make up for with experience and excellent positional play. Every man knows their job and they execute it to perfection. Credit for this has to go to captain Stu Masson who is is Seamen-esk figure in goal commanding his troops as they go into battle. IN truth he didn't have a lot to do last night, but when he was called upon his was big and strong and very little got by him.

In the final games of the night TMT won an entertaining game with some excellent play of their own. Unfortunately the result will go down as a 5-0 given that HOLO FC were unable to get a team owing to it being half term. The result means that, despite joining the league late, they sit only four points off the top of the table and more than capable of lifting the trophy by the end of the season.

On the other 1/3 of the pitch a feisty game was being played out between RichTeaWellens and Chicken Tikka Mo Salah. In many ways it was the game of the night given how competitive it was. Tackles were flying in and no quarter was being expected or given. Through it all the momentum swung backwards and forwards again and again. At first RichTea seemed to have the upper hand. They played some good stuff and Josh was causing all sorts of problems with his pace and trickery. However, James in goal was absolutely outstanding and blocked everything that came his way. Up top Harrison's hold up play was excellent. With RichTea committing men forward he played a crucial role winning the ball high up the pitch. He was able to bring others into play and with their usual goalkeeper absent RichTea stood no chance of holding Chicken at bay. A draw might have been a fair result but the win for Chicken puts them firmly back in the mix to be Champions of the league come the end of the season.

Thanks everyone for a great night. See you again next week!
