Leisure Leagues Calne Tuesday gets underway with a bang!

In what is probably the best pitch in North Wiltshire Leisure Leagues brand new six a side league at Beaversbrook in Calne got underway. It was a great night as across 2/3rds of the 4G pitch games were played in great spirit of the game.

Game of the night saw two of the early title contenders go head to head at the end of the night. RichTeaWellens, who played in the St Joe’s league, looked rusty given they hadn’t played together for nearly a month. Meanwhile Chicken Tikka Mo Salah looked sharp and up for the occasion as they made their debut in a Leisure Leagues football league. The only frustration for Chicken was a dodgy penalty decision coming late in the game that prevented a clean sheet. Going forward Sam looked sharp. He ran the channels superbly and had a hand in plenty of Chickens goals. RichTea will go back to the drawing board and come back stronger.

In the other competitive game of the night The Rushes showed that they will not be run ragged by the younger teams in the league with an excellent showing against Netsix and Chill. Their organisation and Solid base at the back allowed their creative players up front the freedom to cause damage. Dean looked to have a clever touch on him as he took the ball in his stride preventing the defender from getting anywhere needed it. He also looked to have an eye for goal with a superb finish from a wide angle that went neatly into the far corner of the net. Netsix and Chill also showed plenty of quality throughout their squad and they will get better with more experience and fitness the longer the league goes on.

In the friendly match HOLO FC showed plenty of enthusiasm and looked smart in a light blue kit. Their youthful energy and the rate at which they cover ground will ensure they cause plenty of problems for teams in the league. They have their first competitive match in the league next week and at that point we will see what they are really made of.

That concludes the nights matches. You can still get involved in the league. All you have to do is sign up online.
