Rushes see off Dads in Beversbrook six a side

It was another excellent night of football on Tuesday in the Leisure Leagues Calne six a side from Beversbrook Sports Facility. The league appears to be as close as ever with 3 teams in the race to be crowned champions. The game of the night was The Rushes narrow win against Dads Dream Team Reborn in what was a 9 goal thriller. We are now into the second half of the season and it will be fascinating to see how things play out in the title race across the final crucial games.

In the first game of the night FC Calne Veterans took on Netsix and Chill. It was a close game and both teams have it a good go. However, the experience of Veterans got the better of Netsix’s youthful exuberance. The final score was 4-2 to Calne with two goals from Gavin and one each for Stephen and captain Stuart.

The other early kick off saw the game of the night between The Rushes and Dads Dream Team Reborn. It’s clear that there is no love lost between the two teams and Dad were keen to put a dent in The Rushes title challenge. Both teams asked for no quarter and gave none as they battled for the points. The Rushes sealed the win with a 5-4 victory and they owe a huge debt of gratitude to Nick Mooney who bagged four of the teams goals.

Fitness Box used the opportunity in game 3 of going up against the bottom team to put pressure of The Rushes. In a league as close as this one goal difference might just prove crucial so a 5-1 score line against Holo might just give Fitness the edge as they overtook The Rushes in the league title. Goals came from Rory Davis who bagged a hat-trick and Eddie who scored two.

The final game of the night was a close encounter between TMT, looking to hang onto the top two in the league and RichTeaWellens. Both teams felt they could have got something from the game but it was TMT who took the points. Goals from captain Liam Sunderland and Wernble countered the goal scored by RichTea’s target man Luke Woodvine.
