Burntwood Monday 6 a side news 2024-03-18

Play in the Burntwood Monday football league powered by Leisure Leagues

The much-anticipated Burntwood Monday 6-a-side Football league kicked off last night, marking the start of a thrilling new season. Teams from Premier League, Division 1, and Division 2 clashed head-on, exhibiting profound sportsmanship and skill as they battled for the top spot in their respective divisions. Remember, we are utilising an exciting new format for this season - 3 divisions containing 8 teams.

In the Premier League Division, The CTL Elite made a powerful statement by dishing out a 5-0 drubbing to M Bangers. This was one of the boldest of the night and certainly a relief for the newly promoted side. Not the best start for the reformed M Bangers! The Gradient and FC Prodigies, on the other hand, ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Meanwhile Ray Priests narrowly edged out Pete Always Scores Bangers 2-1 in a keenly fought contest. Unfortunately, Wheel FC had to pull out of last night at the eleventh hour so it meant a head start for reigning champions, Burntwood FC. They have assured us they'll be back next week.

Moving to Division 1, Sheffield Monday stole the limelight with a high-scoring 7-3 triumph over Kepa Clean Sheet. Read on to find out which other mad match pipped this to become MotD... The Harriers also commenced their campaign on a winning note, defeating the fairly new Boys To Men 2-1.

Yet another pulsating encounter saw Bottom FC clinch a close 3-2 win over Patty Freaks FC. Norton FC proved that only they deserve the coverted name - they displayed their might with a 7-0 victory over Norton Canes.

Division 2 saw no less action, the goals simply just kept flowing! Unathletico Madrid were finally on the right end of a super Match of the Day, they beat freshly relegated 2 Goals 1 Cup 4-3 in a nail-biting game. Trooper FC managed to keep a clean sheet against Boat Inn Rovers, winning 2-0.

The final 2 fixtures were probably closer to rugby scorelines: Scrambled Legs ran rampant over Monday Warriors with a 7-3 win, whereas Purple Cobras FC had a field day with a 9-0 win against Poms United. Nobody saw either of these coming in the office!

It's still early days in the league, and there's a lot more football to look forward to. Teams will definitely look to regroup and strategize better as they aim to climb up the league ladder. As the season progresses, fans can expect more thrilling matches, stunning goals, and breathtaking saves.

Whilst our league may be pretty close to capacity. It is still the perfect time to sign up! The chance of glory awaits with the full probability thanks to the clean sheet a new season brings...
